Remarks :
Bad experience, teaching is ok, not upto par, and College didn't return security deposit submitted at time of admission citing it as training costs. Placements is good for cse, ece streams.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is provided by MAKAUT. It is relevant and fair but slightly outdated. There is lack of curriculum which are required in industries or professional skills. New age digital technologies are missing from curriculum which are very valuable in corporate jobs.
Placement Experience :
Placement is good for computer science and ece batches only. The majority companies coming are MNC and hiring all stream students for IT jobs. The placement for other batches are below par. Few of the reputed MNCs coming for placement are Capgemini, TCS, Mindtree, Cognizant, etc,
College Events :
Technical, cultural fests are organised yearly. They are below average as compared to other similar tier colleges in kolkata. There was some issues during my tenure due to which fests got cancelled for a year. 1st April from our college only and audience from other colleges are few as compared to other techfest where you can see you crowd coming from all colleges.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Total program fee for btech was around 3.53lakhs. Mode of payment was through bank account deduction, bank draft. Fee Structure is provided by college. The structure is affordable for a BTech program and can also so be admitted through tuition fee waiver is applicable to reduce fee further.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
No, but you can apply for govt minority and OBC scholarships. Scholarships can be redeemed on a daily basis. Apart from this we can also be admitted tuition fee waiver which reduces the tuition fees of the course.
Campus Life :
Gender ratio varies for different streams and is around 7:2 boy girl ratio for cse, ece and ee batches and more divergent for other streams. Diversity is there as majoritu people are from Bengal and Bihar. Now the management has improved and there is lot of scope for extra curriculars. There is ground for football. Labs are well equipped. And there is scope for participating in robotics and other competitions during fests.
Hostel Facilities :
No, but you can easily find pg rooms around the new town, rajarhat, kaikhali area. Rooms are available for 5-7k while a 3bhk flat rent will cost around 20-25k a month. many rooms and rented flats are available within 5 kilometres from the college and travelling distance between 10 to 20 minutes only considering traffic.
Alumni/Alumna :
Never interacted with alumni, seniors were helpful at times. Seniors would give valuable information about the course curriculum or even tips for placements and general issues.
Admission :
I got admission in this college through WBJEE ENTRANCE EXAM. Chicken also appears through JEE mains. In 2014 this was a tier c college giving average placements. You can easily get admitted to this college through joint entrance exam. There is also seats for management quota where you have to pay certain free to secure your seat.also if any batches have empty seats remaining you can apply for that after joint admissions.
Faculty :
Faculties for computer science department are good. most of them have sufficient knowledge about about the subject being taught the average age of professors was between 30 to 50 and they are well qualified. some professors or lecturers also have good industry experience and in-depth knowledge about the matter being taught.
