Entrance Preview :

I got through Odisha JEE 2008. My scores were not that good. For my scores College of Engineering Bhubaneswar sounded perfect. And the course I opted was Electronics and Telecomm engineering as it was the most popular course at that time.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is same as other BPUT affiliated college. The course is vast and it focuses on fundamental understanding of the student.Exams were pretty hectic though. The thing is that most of the course were outdated the industrial usage is highly doubted.

Internships Opportunities :

No. College doesnt provide internship. Here people study for any subject but ultimately work for IT industry anyway.

Placement Experience :

Placements are from IT companies. Job opportunities are not that good. Infosys, ADP, Cognizant are some of the campus recriters come. Salary varies from 3-4.5lacs per annum. Still core companies come for mechanical branch, Edac is one of them. Electricals department and Electronics have neal campus recruitment. And yes Cummins also came in 2011 and offered 6.5 lacs per annum.

College Events :

Only annual function was great. Cultural festivals are not celebrated save for Independence Day, Republic Day, Ganesh Chaturthi. Tech fest is one big drama with a big focus on dating junior girls. Yes annual function brings some C grade bollywood celebrities.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee is bit cheap. Of course feasible as there is loans available. The fee structure covers tuition fees, lab insurance etc. But library fee, exam fees have to be paid by students. Some clandestine stuffs are well hidden. College dont provide wifi to every one and provides some ancient machines to students which costs around 50k but in reality less than 5000 rupees.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

No scholarships are sponsored by college. Govt sponsored ones are hard to get. Loans are available from reputed banks.

Campus Life :

Campus life is pretty boring as there is no good park and the faculties feel bad if they spot some one on lawn. Everything is of poor quality. Gender ratio is male dominated but tolerance is found. No ragging campus is there, Extracurricular, labs, sports department were pathetic and student funded only.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel facilities are their for both boys and girls. But only girls stay in hostel. They always complain about cleanliness, food, bed bugs. PG facility is poor. Average rental is about 7000 rupees. That does not include food. Girls can avail good PGs in Patia which are good in quality but the price is 7500.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni network is non existent. Seniors are kind but busy in their own way. Interaction were with them happened during only early days of college life which involved only giving introduction.

Faculty :

Faculty were both good and bad. Math department got Tushar sir and trust me he is the best. Parija sir leads the English department and he also gives an early example of corporate behavior. If we will talk about faculty who teaches us our branch related topics then they are the most inexperienced faculties on the earth They themselves dont understand several things.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had chosen this course because at that time I was keenly interested in Engineering drawings, architecture, construction as well as estimations and costing. Here the faculty-student ratio is approx 1:18. Almost 1/3rd of the faculty are permanent and have a doctorate and they are well experienced. Guest faculties are also from prestigious colleges holding masters and bachelors. Examinations were conducted regularly in class as well as there used to be 2 internals in a sem and one end sem exam. Questions were set by the BPUT and it was moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

College claims to provide 100% placements to its students, Students from the 7th semester can sit in placements. Many big companies come to recruit on campus every year like Amazon, Dell, Accenture, Wipro, cognizant. The HIghest package was Rs 39lpa by amazon. Profiles like data analyst, software developer, coding, data scientists etc are offered by companies. I am planning to take up an IT sector job

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester onwards. Companies like Ajatus, Byjus, Wipro , Infosys offer placement opportunities in our college. The placement rate has deteriorated over the past 5 years. Earlier 50 %-80%students were placed but now only 20%-30%are placed. Earlier the highest package was 10 LPA and the average package was 4LPA. Now the rate has decreased greatly. The college still tries its best to bring companies. Earlier the placements were more of on-campus placements but now it's mostly off campus. The training and placement cell hence prepares students for the recruitment process and selects the best students and gets them placed. After getting the degree I would be applying for interviews on the technical line off-campus and side by side I would do my higher studies like M.TECH.
