Remarks :
The college atmosphere is great but I must say the management must take into consideration that placement and job opportunities to reputed companies. They must bring very good companies.
Entrance Preview :
I got into the college through WBJEE, I have scored 2182 as WBJEE rank under SC category. I opted for this college as I got info from my elder brothers that this college has good infrastructure in Electrical department and this was the reason because I want to go for the stream of Electrical Engineering.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course was great and was given by WBUT under which our college fell. The 1st year was the basic and all streams has more or less equal subjects. But from the 2nd and 3rd year we had the main core subjects, i.e., machines I & II, power system I & II, power electronics, control system I & II, Measurements, Field theory, Circuit Theory, Digital and Analog Electronics, along-with C, Object Orient Programming, Humanities, Numerical, and other subjects which were the elective ones.In the final year the subjects were mainly for management, electrical subjects are mainly Drives & elective one is Electrical system design, there were Project & Grand Viva which was the main attraction.
Internships Opportunities :
The internship offered by college were from WBSEDCL and also from PLC by IIAHT. Some other were company visit in DVC, and other reputed institutions. The experience was great and very enriching and will be remembered for my entire life.
Placement Experience :
The placement in the core companies were very poor. Mainly IT companies such as Technosoft, Tech Mahindra, CTS, TCS, Jindal Infotech and other companies came for placement, they took most of the students and the salary ranges from 2.16-4 lakhs p.a. Two telecom companies such as Kritika Communication and Unitel Communications arrived too, they took 68 of my classmates., their salary was 15k per month. Spanco was the only construction company which gives 12k per month.
College Events :
The events mainly celebrated was Freshers & Fest.Freshers was the event that was celebrated to welcome the new batch by their seniors.Social was elaborately celebrated at our college. It was comprised of 4-day event in which the 1st day was reserved for giving alms to the poor, distributing blankets, blood donation camp, etc. The 2nd day was for techno fest, where we show case our technological innovations to the world. The 3rd and 4th day was reserved for rock bands to perform.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Yes the fees structure is feasible, in our time we had 27500 as tuition fees, and 4800 as accommodation fees per semester. It is break up into two quarters per semester. As it is a govt aided & aided by TEQUIP, the fees is relatively low.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Yes scholarship is also provided by the college to the meritorious and needy students. As it is govt aided as i have told you then scholarships is not a problem. Also a bank is there within the college campus to provide the loans.
Campus Life :
The labs were great, with great infrastructure. The sports played were football, cricket, volleyball and kabaddi. There were debates and quizes held among us and robotics and other events were also held.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facilities is average, the food is also over all average. It has good big rooms, with lot of space. It has now wifi campus, so internet is free. The food is ups and down too, i.e. some day it is brilliant and the next day the curry is awful.
Alumni/Alumna :
The alumni network is very poor but the senior students helped a lot the junior ones. They help them to get placed and inform them about the internal job vacancies and even refer them to various companies.
Exam Structure :
The exam structure is mainly two semester per year held by the West Bengal University of Technology. But within each semester two internal exams were held by our college.
Faculty :
The faculty of the college were overall average, some of them was brilliant and some were below par. The lab assistant were great some had even greater knowledge than our lecturer.
