Good college-SRM Institute of Technology

Remarks :

Overall good college with a good infrastructure. Various career-oriented opportunities and decent placement. This is all you need to select a college. If you are rich and you can afford expenses of around 3.5 lakhs yearly then you can go ahead and if you cannot afford then look for a better option in terms of fees like VIT.

Course Curriculum Overview :

It's a deemed university so the curriculum is decided by the university management considering the current demand of the industry. No central or state university plays a role in assigning curriculum. Since the university curriculum meets the current demand of industry and its dynamic so better chances for getting a job.

Placement Experience :

Almost every student gets placed in except those who want to go for higher studies and not interested in jobs. Mass recruiters offer more than 5000 offers every year and more than 500 companies visit the campus every year.

College Events :

Aarush - Technical Fest Milan - Cultural Fest And many other fests and seminars. Many technical teams like 4zeracing, camber racing conrods, hybrutos, robotics cells, and many more. You will get every piece of an opportunity in the university but the only thing is you have to make use of it.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It's expensive as compared to other private engineering colleges. Tuition fees are around 2 lakhs per year in college which makes it one of the most expensive universities. In addition, hostels are also costlier and go up to 1.7 lakhs per year. This is one of the drawbacks when you compared SRM and VIT.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I was getting a merit scholarship of 25% of my tuition fees yearly. They have many categories for a scholarship. 1. Merit-based 2. SRMJEE rank based 3. Academic performance-based 4. Need-based One can make use of scholarships.

Campus Life :

The campus is beautifully built over more than 300 acres of land. The gender ratio is almost one. There are 80% of people outside Tamil Nadu, Huge tall buildings are one of the attractions for the college. Largest in-house auditorium with a capacity of more than 3500. Many such infrastructures make the university a kind of city.

Hostel Facilities :

No, I have not opted for the hostel as I have been told hostels were costlier and were around 1 lakh with triple sharing and attached bath non AC. Usually, people prefer taking hostel for the first year then they shift in Pvt apartments in groups which cost them less and also offer them more freedom than hostel.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumnus are average but almost everyone settled at good positions in various organisation. Not reached to a very high level but they all are doing well in their life.

Admission :

After the 12th, I had given JEE-MAINS and got to the college after the form filling through MP ONLINE, this is conducted by CBSE itself with AICTSE. I was too much interested in design and automobiles and so I chose this course.

Faculty :

Faculty is average, some of the faculties are really knowledgable. But I think that's everywhere in Pvt college. They recruit fresh graduates or postgraduates for faculty posts. Anyway, you will engineer more outside the classroom, and whatever you will learn will be completely your effort. University can give you exposure which SRM has no doubt providing to the fullest.

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
