Specialised University for Horticulture studies

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is precisely design and crafted keeping in mind the needs of a specialised bachelor's level program in the domain of horticulture. The structure of examination that is followed is the semester wise system of exam. As per the system 2 semester examinations are conducted during each year of the studies. before this and semester examination and in between them mid-term tests and assignments are provided for performance evaluation.

Placement Experience :

In terms of placement most of the students apply for government sector research labs and nurseries for which they start preparation in their second or third year. The university through its placement cell provides placement opportunity to the student however not everyone gets placed through that. Internship as an integral part of the course and the college provides that support through its nurseries. One can also look for internship opportunities on their own.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fees for the 3 year program in the domain of horticulture is around 1 lakh rupees. Each year around 35,000 rupees is to be submitted at the start of the new academic year which includes tuition fee, library fee, miscellaneous charges etc.

The University offers scholarships to the students who have scored good marks in the national level entrance examination. Apart from that Karnataka state government also extend scholarship to the meritorious student provided that they are the domicile of the state. The central government also extend scholarship to the students through its national scholarship portal. Educational loans are extended by both the public sector banks as well as the private sector banks.

Since our university is horticulture based University most of the extra-curricular activities are related to plantation, gardening and plant based research etc. Events like Totagarike Mela, Republic Day, Independence Day, etc are organised by the University. In terms of the infrastructure University is is equipped with all the necessities that are required to be there in University offering courses in the domain of horticulture and allied sciences.

Admission :

I applied for the ICAR AIEEA UG exam which is the national level exam for admission in agriculture and allied sciences. After qualifying the ICAR AIEEA UG exam and securing good enough marks I opted for this university. since it is a popular University in the domain of horticulture sciences I opted for it. After grant of the mission I was called to the campus for completion of procedural formalities.

Faculty :

The faculty of our University is quite experienced and has an extensive knowledge in the domain of horticulture and allied sciences. Some of the professors have served in the Central and state government run horticulture research labs. That experience of working in the domain is clearly highlighted in their teaching methodology. This helps the students to get the crux of the things.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is fully based on botany particularly Horticulture like fruits, vegetables, flowers, plantations, medicinal, and aromatic plants. I have chosen this because many govt jobs are available in this field. Our class has nearly 58 students. All professors are M.Sc. or Ph.D. with NET-qualified lectures. 3 exams will be conducted in a semester.

Placement Experience:

I have no idea about placements. Seniors are either pursuing a PhD, or they are working as JRF. I haven't heard that even one of our seniors has been placed in any company. Students are worried about their future. There is no job security in this university for M.Sc and MBB students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have joined this course for learning gardening. Faculty members were good. majority of the Faculty completed master's degrees in Agriculture & Horticulture. This is a four years course. Every year, there are two mid exams & Two Semester exams, and Two Practical Exams. Mid exams were quite easy compared to Semester exams. But Easy to pass all those exams, if you thoroughly listen to classes & prepared well.

Including an 8-semester performance, there is a chance of placement. Many government jobs will be offered for BSc agriculture and MSc agriculture students 30 % chance to get a government job, many private sectors also provide a job for them by a package of 30000 per month. I'm planned to work in any government sector to give my best for our farmers
