Fairly good college

Remarks :

Professors attitude isn't that amazing. Talking just about the extc faculty. It and CMPN faculty just seems lethargic, which the students feel is an easy going attitude. Atleast the extc profs ensure you are prepared right from start, and won't spring surprises on you towards the end of the semester when you should be studying

Course Curriculum Overview :

They encourage you to participate in competitions, both tech and non tech. Course structure followed is given by MU. 2 internal exams, 1 practical exam, and 1 final exam is mandated. In addition to this, they might hve extra tests, mock practical exams and surprise tests

Placement Experience :

No internships provided. They provided an opportunity for a paid internship once. Paid here means, you have to pay for it. It's as good as a training session. Placement is fairly good enough if you have average or above scores.

College Events :

Prayas is a technical event particularly for freshers. Mosaic is a fun yet technical event for everyone. Annual functions are held which have themes. People can participate in dancing, singing, managing, organising etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee is approximately similar to other colleges. Was nearly 1L per year during my curriculum. It was increasing every year. In my final year they had introduced AC classes for one floor, and fee for them was pretty high, even though the ACs weren't being used

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Catholic quota is available. I suppose their fee is quite lower compared to others. Only came across a scholarship provided by Maharashtra government. Some people I knew applied for it. Loans can be taken by any bank for the institute

Campus Life :

Gender ratio is approximately 40 females to 60 males. Parties are organised for annual functions like dj night, prom, farewell, freshers party etc. No partiality towards race, religion, gender, sexual orientation etc. You do well if you behave well and study enough to pass. Professors might not respect you if you are unwilling to even try

Hostel Facilities :

No hostel facilities. There is a hostel available in the college opposite to SFIT though. It is a part of Francis colleges. St Francis Institute of management and research. Other buildings nearby give rooms on rent too if you don't prefer hostel. The hostel doesn't provide food

Alumni/Alumna :

Seniors are really helpful. They're how you understand how to pass the system. They encourage you to participate in extra curricular activities too. They have an active Alumni network and organize frequent events. Pep talks are arranged for the students by Alumni too

Admission :

Applied thourough merit list after giving JEE mains. Can apply via CET too. My preference was electronics, college didn't really matter to me. SFIT is average for extc. Maybe even below average. Course is good enough as it follows Mumbai University. Its not new technology, but basics are covered atleast. Extc professors are nice, but strict too. Too many assignments given

Faculty :

Professors are well versed only with their ppts. Very few profs know something beyond it. You are expected to study the details by yourself. What they teach in lectures usually won't be there for exams. Best way to prepare for exams is to study past papers

Students from the 7th semester onwards are eligible for campus placements. Core Biomedical companies like GE, Medtronics, biosense etc and IT companies like TCS, JIO, INFOSYS, CAPGEMINI etc Recruit Biomedical Engineers. Most Biomedical Students prefer Masters over placements. 80 percent of students from selected candidates get placed. I will go for Placements and I will get into post graduation after clearing GATE 2023.

Remarks:

Location is most likely a factor for me. It is closed to my home. And the another factor is that, Different colleges offer different programs with their curriculum. For example, as an Engineering student, I had a set of classes that I was required to take, with little deviation apart from electives.

Placement Experience:

I haven't experienced placements yet. but yes the deserving students get internship every year. The whole staff of this college is very nice.

I would say that there are many other good colleges in pune for mechanical engineering , as the cut off of this colldge is low so students not willing to compromise on the branch can take admission here without any second thought .
