My Experience in SUT

Remarks :

Positive Remarks: My college provides a calm atmosphere best suiting for a medical college. The faculties and facilities are upto the mark. Negative Remarks: They donot show much interest for extracurricular activities.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum of my course is as per the 2010 curriculum pattern of Kerala University of Health Sciences. From 2019, the curriculum has changed and it is entirely different from my curriculum. There are 3 sectional examinations, both theory and practicals, conducted by the college itself, and a final examination conducted by the University. After the lecture classes it is followed by practical classes. It was very enthusiastic and enjoyable. It might be because I love this course more than anything in this world.

Placement Experience :

There isn't any campus placement in our college. But there is an internship in our college for 1 year, with a stipend of 15000 per month. During internship we work as a house surgeon in various departments like emergency medicine, general surgery, general medicine, orthopaedics etc. During internship period we face various cases and learn to deal situations with a tactical approach.

College Events :

We conduct cultural fests and we also celebrate our College Day. Medical camps and workshops are conducted to expose us for new experiences and technologies. Besides the cultural fests there are zonal competitions and Intermedicos competitions.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is expensive for an Indian middle class family. But when comparing to the dignity and elegance, the course is worth for money. There are 2 types of seats. One is merit quota and other is NRI quota. The fees for Merit quota is 500000. The fees for NRI quota is 2000000.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There isn't any scholarship or loan facility availed by our college. But scholarship is availed by the Kerala Government for Below Poverty Line (BPL) students, which exempts 75% of the academic fees and OBC and SC/ST scholarships. Educational loans are available from the bank.

Campus Life :

Extracurricular activities in the college is coordinated by the students union which is elected every year. There are more girls than boys in our college. Politics is not promoted in our college. All the students are of same economic status.

Hostel Facilities :

The Hostel rooms are sufficient and there is no need to search for PG's. Each room is shared between 3 or 4 people and have common washourooms and bathourooms. Mess facility is present within the hostel and the food availability is sufficient.

Alumni/Alumna :

Seniors are really really kind and helpful. They respect each and every student of my college. The key for their kindness is just respect them, they will definitely care you. A medical students academics without the help from seniors is horrible. They guide us with their tips and wits which are really helpful for the smooth success in the academics. Besides academics they also help us in managing the college union and in conducting programmes.

Admission :

I appeared for National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET). On the basis of my state rank I got admission thourough the common admission portal. I chose MBBS as my course because my father loved to see me as a doctor. For that I appeared 3 times and succeeded in my third chance.

Faculty :

The faculties of my college are highly qualified with years of experience in various other colleges within Kerala and outside Kerala. They are ready to clear our doubts very patiently and keeps a friendly relationship.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is too heavy and there is lot to learn . Since it is based on helping people I chose this course. And the curriculum is set in such away that we were trained to face health problems in real world in real time. The final year time duration can be increased since there are 6 subjects which are too hard. There will be 3 internal assessment in which total of no less 40 percent should be scored in both theory and practical only then you will be permitted to write the University Exams.

Our curriculum is mainly focussing on academics . There is also sports and arts including competition but they are not supporting the students. The question paper difficulty is of moderate type and can pass.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We were brought into the new CBME curriculum. Even the faculty finds it hard to comply with as it is a new system. There are a lot of small group discussions and self directed learning programmes that consider the teacher as just a facilitator and students are meant to learn with the guidance of the facilitator.

It is very esteemed profession and we have the lives of people in our hands. Curriculum very well prepares us for real world applications if we put effort from our side too. Faculties need to be more student friendly though.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Why MBBS because it has been my dream since of I was kid and I’m glad that I made it this far. Each batch in my college have 250 students and for every 25 students one faculty would be given as mentor, whom we can approach for any of queries. Apart from that practical and clinical postings are really fascinating. We would have year exams as to qualify each year, and a few internal exams every 2-3 months. And these exams I wouldn’t put it too tough that we have to give our 100% of time for only studies but nor too easy. If we put a moderate effort for studies we are soo good to go.
