Remarks :
Positives include good infrastructure, facilities and teaching. Negatives include close minded elders and inequality between male and female. We all hope it will slowly get better with time, it cannot be like this forever.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course structure wasn't as interesting as I thought It would be, I expected a lot of new things which I thought would be taught soon. But I was wrong, there is a a lot of basic information to be learned first and we get to the deeper side of psychology a little while later. There is physiology also to be learned, more elaborated on each parts of the body. The exam structure is not very complicated and we get enough time to prepare for each subject. The marking scheme is also pretty fair and we all know if we work hard it is easy to score.
Placement Experience :
Yes our college does provide internship but it is not compulsory for every student to participate. Our internship will only start during the third year and im only in my second year now so I will have to wait till next year. Yes there are job opportunities but most of us will go further to study masters and some of us will go for an other course to study.
College Events :
There are so many events celebrated in our college, from Onam to Christmas to freshers day. There is association day for each course where we have our event related to our course. Onam is kerala's biggest event and it is celebrated very strongly in our college, from different types of dance to singing and even dj. Christmas is also hyped but it comes after onam.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fees is feasible, especially because it is a sports college and I've joined under sports quota. Fees varies according to the background of the students. It can go from no fees to lakhs depending upon how the student got admission.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Sports scholarship is given for those perform well in sports and continue to show achievements during their college years. Other scholarships are based on merit. There are also scholarships on art and dance.
Campus Life :
Extracurricular activities are highly given importance, the college has a good name for their performance on both cultural and sport related events, for both males and females. There is a small discrimination when comparing males and females in the college, males have more freedom than females and they are allowed to wear any clothes while the females have a dress code.
Hostel Facilities :
I stay in the sports hostel in the dormitory room, which is a total of 6 of us. Fees per month for the hostel is rs 2500 and varies according to the money used by the hostel. The facilities are few but it is adjustable. The best thing about the hostel is they provide us good food. The curfew is 6 pm and we aren't really allowed to go out much unless we have a written permission. But being an athlete I dont have time to go outside except for practice so I can adjust pretty fine.
Alumni/Alumna :
Yes, they have been very helpful. They have inspired us juniors to work hard and reach greater heights, especially as psychology is only becoming a hot topic in india, we have a greater scope for jobs and we should impress the crowd with our knowledge. Seniors have been the best example.
Admission :
I have been wanting to learn psychology for a long time. It was a huge curious topic for me and I've also wanted to help people with mental issues, I've been there and I would understand them the best as a psychologist.
Faculty :
The faculty of our college is very experienced and due to this reason our college is autonomous. They are also friendly and are always available for help. But when the course is taught, I feel there is a lack of communication which brings in distraction for the students, they keep focusing on teaching that they forget about our opinions and curiosities. But I cannot deny they put a lot of effort to make us understand each and every thing they teach us, they try to make it as interesting as they can but sometimes they are just too focused on teaching.
