Remarks :
In nutshell, i must say its best college if you want to enjoy your college life with a good education and knowledge.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course is fully industry-specific. Being vocational in nature it lays more importance on the practical knowledge imparting skills with knowledge. The whole curriculum revolves around food factory technologies and science related to it .we had our only industrial visit at verka plant ,Mohali . But there were no campus placements arranged for us.
Placement Experience :
There was no placement drive organized by our college specifically for our course .some job fest was conducted but none of that were having any relevant job role for us . Talking about internships, we had to do a 1-month internship after ever even semester and 3 month internship/training after the final semester.It was under our curriculum so it was compulsory for everyone but we have to get our internships by ourselves.
College Events :
There are many seminars and workshops arranged on a regular basis.In my final year, Tedx was also organized in our college .our own fest DAV Karavan is one of the biggest highlights of our college other co-curricular activities are also arranged on a regular basis. Being at the center attraction point of the city near cisco & Gedi route it enjoys the perk of fests and concerts organized there.Its under Punjab university thus one can participate in youth fest . There are many societies in our college where one can excell their skills.Its also known for well equipped sports facilities.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The annual fees is around 22000 - 23000 annually. Other than this examination fee of 2500 is also to be paid annually. The mode of payment is cash, card and also online mode whichever you are comfortable with. The fee structure is feasible and also economical.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
No there is no scholarship as much as i have knowledge about but there are certainly some sports quota. I didn't opt for any educational loan also.
Campus Life :
One of the best campuses in the city of Chandigarh. You will feel so lively here.Majority of students are from Punjab but there is mix culture from other states also. The gender ratio is optimum. There are many student organizations and parties elected through annual elections. Regular workshops are also conducted. The vibe is very energetic .you will feel very enthusiastic .college being on the gedi route ( one of the most famous place in Chandigarh) is always a attraction point . There is no discrimination on the basis of race ,religion ,gender or economic background.
Alumni/Alumna :
As being a new course we only had one batch before us so our interactions were only with them. They were very helpful throughout their time.
Admission :
I saw an advertisement in the newspaper way back in 2016. The course is under the national skill Development council. Being a vocational course i thought this would be more beneficial rather than going for any basic graduation degree so i opted for this.The admission process don't include any entrance as being new course there is not much application . Science stream is preferred but other stream students can also apply. The admissions usually start by the end of June to July and commence till all the seats are filled usually till the end of August.we can apply online through college website or can also by offline mode.
Faculty :
We had 3 permanent lecturers for our major subjects along with 2 guest lecturer for basic subjects to be changed every semester. Average age being 25-30 with post-graduation in relevant fields according to their subjects.The knowledge and expertise they have were excellent and helped all of us in securing knowledge-based education. Moreover, the subject knowledge they provide were sufficient to clear all our doubts.
