Great

Remarks :

Positive - Great academic push is given to the students Negative - pathetic and extremely stringent hostel rules. Need to work on the gender and nativity bias, as few faculties are clearly more biased towards the local students.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is okayish. It basically follows the Anna University curriculum more or less. It's internal exam pattern is two CATs (Continuous Assessment Tests) and one FAT (Final Assessment Test). Each subject exam in CAT is of 50 marks while in FAT, it's of 100 marks.

Placement Experience :

Great Placement Opportunities. College calls for both Internships and Placements and based on the pay scale, those offers are graded and presented to students so that they can sit in their preferable job exams. Overall experience is good, but the Chennai students have to make regular commute to Vellore (main Campus) during placement season to sit for interviews.

College Events :

1. technoVIT - Tech fest of College where different schools/branches compete against each other. 2. Vibrance - Cultural fest of College where different clubs compete against each other. 3. Renaissance - Entrepreneur fest, where different startup aspirants get to meet Angel Investors.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Overall expensive. The poorer your rank in VITEEE, higher is the fees that you have to pay. After every 500 seats, there is a fees hike of roughly 80000 INR. So the last seat student has to be filthy rich and equally desperate to study in our college.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I self funded my education. But various banks offer education loans for admission into VIT. My friends took their loans from PNB, SBI, HDFC, Axis Bank etc. Scholarship facilities are available but it's negligible considering the fees that is is paid by the students. The topper of each branch in each year gets a cash scholarship of only 14000 INR.

Campus Life :

Activities - Swimming, Dance Hall, Gym, Singing auditorium Labs - Electronics lab, Thermal lab, fluid mechanics lab, thermodynamics lab, manufacturing lab, concrete lab, foundary etc. Sports - basketball court, football ground, tennis court, running track

Hostel Facilities :

Mediocre. ACs and fans are provided. ACs function only for 11 hours during night. Common washrooms are there but cleaned once a day. Mess option is also there based on your preference, the cost for mess varies, Special Mess being the costliest.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni network is vast and you can get your queries answered within few minutes. All the alumni are extremely helpful, may it be in terms of guidance or charity donations. The Alumnus community of VIT is amazing.

Admission :

Its own entrance exam called VITEEE. Once you clear the exam, you can choose your course based on your rank in VITEEE. During the counselling session, you also have to choose the hostel options like AC or Non AC room, no of beds in your room, mess type etc.

Faculty :

The faculty system is great. Each student is appointed a faculty as their proctor throughout the 4 years so that they can personally monitor the student's performance and give them career guidance. Few faculties are pathetic, just like in every college but overall, the rating is GREAT.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

Placement Experience:

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
