MBA from IBS Hyderabad or PGPM from IBS Gurgaon? Will the MBA from IBS Hyd worth its cost?

DG
Debashish Gupta Posted On : March 8th, 2022
MBA from ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad

Between these two options, MBA from IBS Hyderabad is better. However, you should know that the ROI for the degree isn’t that good. Due to the huge student intake, everyone doesn’t get the required attention. During placement too, every student doesn’t get placement offers. IBS Hyderabad placement highlights state the average CTC offered was 7.97 LPA.

If you are going to Hyderabad, you should consider other reputed management institutes like Ashoka School of Business.

How you rate Great Lakes Chennai or Gurgaon for PGPM?

GM
Gaurav Mukharjee Posted On : July 11th, 2023
Great Lakes Institute of Management

Since its establishment, Great Lakes be it Chennai or Gurgaon has been delivering premium quality management education at par with recent industry trends.

As per the official rankings, Great Lales Chennai ranked 31st among management institutes by NIRF 2023 and 11th among private colleges by IIRF Ranking 2023. On the other hand, Great Lakes Gurgaon was ranked 62 out of 125 colleges by NIRF in India in 2023 and it was 52 out of 125 colleges in India in 2022.

However, these rankings are highly transparent and misleading. Either the ranking parameters are not credible or the institutes refuse to participate resulting in exaggerated figures. So it's best to talk to alumni to get a better picture and don’t just rely on rankings.

Is it mandatory to reside at the IIM Bangalore hostel if one gets admitted for the PGPM course?

AP
Axar Patel Posted On : November 21st, 2022
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (Graduated 2017)

Yes, if you enroll in the PGPM program, you must reside in a hostel for the first year; you can choose to live off campus in the second year, but no one does.

It is truly beneficial that one must live in a hostel; otherwise, it is extremely difficult to complete all of the submissions and work in groups. Group project meetings are usually held at 11 p.m. or later, around midnight, making it difficult to attend if you are not on campus.

Furthermore, because subscriptions for these resources are validated using IP addresses, you will be unable to use them outside of the IIM campus.

However, the amazing part is that the campus is so beautiful that once you start staying there, you will despise the idea of staying anywhere else.

How is the PGPM flex program offered by Great Lakes Chennai? Is it worth to go for this program considering I am already working in IT.

Great Lakes Institute of Management

The worth of the program depends on a number of parameters and it’s important to analyze what parameters matter more to you than others. Nevertheless, consider the following points

  • The academic exposure will give you a complete business mindset through a wide range of core courses that will strengthen your basics.
  • The faculty pool comprises extremely learned and highly esteemed professors of the country. Finance, Marketing, and Analytics are taught by the most sought-after faculties. Their strong industrial ties make the learning experience practical and less theoretical.
  • The Great Lakes Chennai PGDM flex program is not full-time so your campus life will be limited to the weekends.
  • The campus time for you would be limited when compared to a full-time course. Nevertheless, the LEAD-rated campus with its serene atmosphere will be your best place for the weekend.
  • The ROI is high considering that many firms recognize this program and consider you for their higher management positions.
  • This program is also beneficial for those who are willing to switch jobs.
  • The program has no campus placements so students have to depend on their contacts from varied backgrounds and faculty with strong industrial ties.

This is the best institute for enhancing your managerial knowledge and connections in the industry.

How is the placement scenario in great lakes Chennai for PGPM course? Does the whole batch with 400 people gets placed?

DD

PGPM from Great Lakes Institute of Management (India) (Graduated 2018)

One can easily get an idea about the placement scenario of any School from the official website. But, these figures are sometimes inflated so you cannot rely on them. The best way is to contact someone who is in the current batch, a recent pass-out, or an alumni. Only they can give you the real picture of the institute.

Great Lakes Chennai PGDM placements are decent and around 90–95% of the batch gets placed. If you are still adamant about looking up the statistics, Great Lakes Chennai placements for the PGDM program have been tabulated below

Which one should I opt for: PGDCM from IIM Calcutta or PGPM from IIM Lucknow?

SZ
Saba Zafar Posted On : November 29th, 2022

If we compare PGDCM and PGDM at IIM Calcutta, we see that both the courses have the same networking, placements and even infrastructure.

Now if you compare both the IIMs, IIMC and IIML, there is hardly any difference in the curriculum or even placements. So deciding which IIM to go for depends on your own preferences.

But if you are planning to quit IT then I suggest going for the full-fledged MBA course from IIM Lucknow rather than a system at IIM Calcutta.

IIM Lucknow will offer excellent exposure and placements and you will end up getting an above average salary package for consulting.

Which college should I choose having 38 months of work experience in a non-IT field, Great Lakes PGPM or NMIMS Mumbai campus?

AB

You can choose Great Lakes if you would like to switch industries and finish your MBA in one year. If you don't want to change industries and have two years to spare for an MBA, NMIMS is the better option.

The cost is nearly the same, however attending NMIMS takes a year more, so you have to consider the opportunity cost as well.

Regarding exposure and industry interaction, NMIMS is better. You should make a decision keeping in mind all these points and your personal considerations.

RS
Rahul Sinha Posted On : July 11th, 2023

There is no specific weightage for the essay in the Great Lakes Chennai PGPM process. However, it is generally considered to be an important part of the application process as it allows the admissions committee to gain a better understanding of the candidate's qualifications and goals.

Great Lakes focuses on the overall profile of the candidates and these essays are a good mode of evaluation of the candidate's skills. Your goals and passions can be written in a lucid manner that convinces the recruiter to select you.

So, I will recommend you focus on submitting a well-written, clear, and concise essay that effectively communicates your qualifications and goals.

I've gotten selected in both Great Lakes PGPM and TAPMI. Which one should I choose?

It majorly depends on whether you have received the offer letter for the PGDM 2 years course or PGPM 1-year. If you have 2 year course from both of the colleges then go for TAPMI. But if you have an offer letter for PGPM 1-year course then go for Great Lakes, Chennai.

How was your interview experience at SPJIMR PGPM Program?

MR
Madhav Reddy Posted On : March 17th, 2023
Studied at SPJIMR ,Mumbai

The interview experience of one of the students at SPJIMR PGPM Program is described below:

During the interview, there were three students, including him, two of which were in Finance and one in Marketing. There were also two quantitative mathematics professors who conducted the technical round. The interview lasted for 45-60 minutes, and the professors were relaxed throughout the interview.

Some common questions included introducing oneself and discussing a model that needed dummy variables as independent variables. He also had to answer specific questions, such as writing an algorithm to help IoT differentiate between his twin brother and himself, explaining the process of capitalization of losses to a layman, and how the DuPont Model could help evaluate a company. He also had to justify why he wanted to pursue an MBA despite already being an FRM.

In the second round, there were common questions about the understanding of the numbers, views on farmer protests and the toolkit case, and the rising intolerance in countries like India and the US. The interview was more about evaluating his personality, and most of the questions were about how he would react to ethical or moral dilemmas.

Overall, listening to others' answers, having opinions in place, and being thorough with the FORM B were key to succeeding in the interview. Out of 40 students in his slot, half made it to the second round, and fortunately, all three of them made it to the next round.
