If you're interested in the IITs and their programs, here's some information to consider:

  • The IITs are modeled on MIT, which is one of the best tech and social science schools in the world.
  • IIT-Madras has a Humanities program that reflects a level of maturity on the part of the IIT system.
  • Rather than being discontinued, some believe that the Humanities program should be extended to other IITs to provide a well-rounded education to students.

It's worth noting that this is one perspective on the IITs and their programs, and other factors may also be important to consider when choosing a college or university. It's always a good idea to research multiple options and weigh the pros and cons of each before making a decision.

B.Tech from IIT Madras (2018)

The IIT model by MIT is considered to be one of the best tech and social science schools. On the part of IIT, IIT Madras’ humanities course shows a lot of maturities.

  • It is an excellent initiative by IIT Madras. The course curriculum and admission criteria for the MA program are wonderful.
  • Although IIT is only a technological university, including Humanities as a part of their course indicates that the social sciences cannot be left far behind in life, irrespective of your field of study.
  • In MIT, no matter what course you opt for, you will have to study eight humanities subjects compulsorily.
  • Other IITs such as Delhi, Bombay, Roorkee, Kanpur, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati have faculties for Humanities and Social Sciences but they are only to be accessed by those pursuing BTech or MTech.
  • It is IIT Madras who was the harbinger in differentiating between the humanities and science courses and other IITs should also follow.
  • Apart from this, it is also good because MA students learn from their science counterparts and vice versa hence it focuses on overall development.

So, instead of being scrapped, it should rather be extended to the other IITs.
