It is advised to go with ECE at IIT Guwahati. Its placements scenario is at par with DSCE or in some cases even better. Also, the institute has an extremely good campus and facilities. You will be given the tag of being an alumnus of one of the IITs of India.Except for few colleges like RVCE, IIITB, all other Colleges in Bangalore are considered to be not that good. Still, you can consider taking admission in Dayanand Sagar for Computer Science and Engineering if you have an inclination towards the metro city of Bangalore and want to stay in the urban city due to the many big firms and startups that are situated in the city, you can choose this college.

Otherwise, IIIT Guwahati should be your decision without any doubt. At last, the choice is yours that you should make only after considering all the aspects related to both the colleges.

Yes, IT Park is being developed right next to the IIIT Guwahati campus, and it is mostly under construction. This IT Park can be a game-changer for the placements and opportunities of students in IIIT Guwahati at the time it is properly established.

The points below state the present condition of the IT Park and some of its major advancements.

• There are companies like Amtron and Quantum dots who have started their office construction in the IT Park.
• Along with that, several other large-scale industries have signed MOUs for building their offices in the neighborhood.
• Students and faculties from IIIT Guwahati are invited to the inauguration ceremonies of the industries.
• In recent times, faculties of IIIT Guwahati were invited for the inauguration of Quantum Dots Nano Complex. It is the first Quantum Dots Company, which is established in Middle East India.
• It has potential applications in the production of transistors, LEDs, diode lasers, solar cells, and second-harmonic generation.
• The company has plenty of work going on in medical imaging and quantum computing, which is going to change the world ahead.

The future IT Park will surely play a role in the betterment of the institute of IIIT Guwahati, as seen in the case of IIIT Hyderabad.

You can opt for NIT Andhra Pradesh. Now, you may be hesitant about choosing it because it is 2 years younger than IIIT Guwahati. But NIT Andhra Pradesh has both a very good location and faculty. The location of your institute matters since there are few companies that clearly do not visit the North East for placements. Even though IIIT Guwahati does not qualify to be at a very remote location, you will definitely have better options at NIT Andhra Pradesh. 

Here are some details about the institutes.

The 2 years gap does not necessarily make noticeable differences, but the location does. For example, NIT Goa is only 7 years old but still has notable placement stats only because of its favorable location. So, if you want to enroll in IIIT, then either IIIT, Trichy, or Sri City can be considered better than IIIT Guwahati. IIIT Guwahati also had poor placements for CSE in recent years. 

The final decision is yours, but NIT Andhra is definitely a better choice. 

When you compare both these colleges for their faculty, in my view, they both have top notch faculty.

• All the professors and teachers at both these colleges have completed their education with PhDs from very well reputed IITs and NITs. So there isn’t much scope to question their quality.
• A few friends of mine have studied at IIIT Lucknow and as per their experiences, the faculty at the college is very helpful and kind to the students.
• In my opinion, the same should be the case with IIIT Guwahati as it is known to be a premier institute with national importance and it is also being mentored by IIT Guwahati.

For example, IIIT Bhagalpur is also mentored by IIT Guwahati so most students are aware that the faculty and academic environment is good here. As the case with IIIT Lucknow is also similar – where it is being mentored by IIIT Allahabad which is known for its coding culture and is one of the top IIITs across the country, you will not have a reason to doubt the institute.

So, both colleges are equally good as they are being mentored by some of the best institutes in the country and have good faculty.

One of my friends studied ECE at IIIT Guwahati and here are some things he shared, which might give you an insight to IIIT Guwahati. According to his experience -

• If you did not get a seat in IIT or Home State NIT in the branch of your choice, then ECE at IIIT Guwahati is not a bad choice. It's similar to the ECE department in most NITs or government IIITs.
• If going for government PSU jobs after B.Tech, then ECE over CSE is fine.
• IIIT Guwahati is among the top 3 new IIITs as far as AIR goes. It is a new institution that is slightly incomplete but secured.
• Academic buildings with a state-of-art are modern centrally air-conditioned.
• A pollution-free environment, 24-hour power, and water supply is also provided. There are four automatic elevators in the boys' hostel. All the rooms have attached bathrooms.

However, CSE and ECE at IIIT Guwahati are good, as far as course content and faculty involvement are concerned compared to the other new NITs, IITs, and IIITs. This is about the curriculum and not about the tag.

For those who join, it's not bad. However, it's not the best on Earth. For the best options go for MIT, Stanford, Caltech, Berkeley, CMU, IIT Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, IIITH, etc.

According to my friends studying at IIIT Guwahati, CSE is a better choice than pursuing ICE at NIT Jalandhar. Though there are various reasons why ICE at NIT Jalandhar is also a very good program. As NIT is an older institute, they have more alumni and industry connections and a decent placement record compared to that of IIIT Guwahati.

Below is some information for the academic year 2019-20.

However compelling all these might me, there are many reasons for choosing CSE at IIIT Guwahati over the other which are listed below –

• CSE is one of the most demanding branches currently and will continue to be.
• All IIITs in India including IIIT Guwahati have a robust mechanism in place for prepping up their students for Google Summer of Coding (GSoC). This instills a coding culture among the students.
• The proximity of IIT Guwahati makes it favorable for IIIT Guwahati in terms of placements. This also gives it an edge over NIT Jalandhar.
• Guwahati has its own commercial airport which makes it easier for the placement committee to bring top officials of big companies to the campus.

Even though its placements are very much close to that of NIT Jalandhar, in some cases it exceeds it as well. The growth potential of the institute is higher in comparison to NIT Jalandhar. Hence, it is advisable to go for CSE at IIIT Guwahati rather than ICE at NIT Jalandhar. However, if you prefer ICE, then go for it.
