In between SGS ITS Indore and IET DAVV which one is better for Civil Engg?

AT
Aakash Tiwari Posted On : October 15th, 2020
B.E Computer Engineering, Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV (2019)

SGSITS and IET DAVV, both are equally good options but here, we are going to analyse the two concerning different categories. For those who hold a keen interest in Civil can opt for it.

The table below shows a brief overview of both institutions:

Category SGSITS IET DAVV
Ranking #201 by NIRF for Engineering -
Average Fee (Per Year) INR 70,550 INR 82,961
Entrance Mode JEE Main, GATE, GPAT, CMAT JEE Main, GATE, UGC Net.
Companies Visited Consultancy Services, InnoEye, etc. Adobe, Barclays, Snapdeal, etc.
Hostel fee INR 44,400 INR 17,300

Placement

  • IET DAVV and SGSITS both provide 100% placement opportunities to its students.
  • A huge amount of companies visit the campuses every year. SGSITS receives firms like Goldman Sachs while IET DAVV receives firms such as VMware, etc.
  • As SGSITS is a very old and renowned college, it has an upper hand because of its humongous alumni network. No placement data is provided by IET DAVV, on the other hand.

Campus

  • As opposed to the Placement category, IET DAVV stands apart when it comes to the campus environment.
  • The College conducts so many events from Day 1, namely - Engineer’s Day, Welcome Party, Invento, etc.
  • Although both the colleges are in the centre of Indore, IET DAVV stands apart because the Campus has a lake which adds to its beauty.
  • In SGSITS, the girls’ hostel is at some distance from the campus, which is quite a con.

Faculty: A huge amount of professors of SGSITS have their degrees from previous IITs or IISC while not many professors at IET DAVV are from IITs or IISC.

Other specifications:

  • SGSITS conducts classes 5 days a week while IET DAVV does it for 6 days.
  • The Graduation Degree procured by IET DAVV holds more value as it is a NAAC A Grade University but when it comes to the popularity, more people are aware of SGSITS around the country as compared to IET DAVV.
  • SGSITS and IET DAVV are considered just after IIT Indore and MANIT by the students who want to pursue engineering.

Both the colleges stand apart in different aspects and are good within their sphere. SGSITS still seems to be better by a mark but ultimately it is you who knows which option is better.

How is the electronics and instrumentation branch at IET-DAVV, Indore?

Kaushal Banerjee Posted On : September 23rd, 2022
studied B.E Electronics And Instrumentation at Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV (2020)

IET DAVV, Indore is a good option for Electronics and Instrumentation branch. It offers decent academics, faculties, and placements. The placement opportunities offered are mostly in IT/CS domain. No core companies from EI take part in the campus drive. According to the recent highlights of IET DAVV placements, the average and highest CTC offered for the branch are INR 3.5 LPA and INR 11 LPA, respectively. Companies such as HSBC, MuSigma, Byjus, Accenture, etc. took part in the placement drive.

How did Abhay Gupta get into Google despite being a student of tier-III engineering college i.e. IET DAVV Indore?

Sonam Verma Posted On : March 17th, 2021
B.Tech. Electrical Engineering, Delhi Technological University (2017)

After reading the question, I searched for this person and visited his LinkedIn account, which narrates the whole story.

It is a misconception that Google doesn't hire graduates from Tier-3 colleges. Well, this person is not just a graduate as he has 4 years of experience in the software field.

You cannot define success by the college you studied in. If you are hardworking and have potential, success will come automatically. There are various examples of successful people from not-so-famous colleges. Not every IAS is a B.Tech, not every scientist in ISRO, DRDO, etc. is from Tier-1 college.

Having a degree from a Tier-1 college does not automatically grant you success. Even a gold medalist has to earn by working.

Many people are not fortunate to study in a prestigious college or university. It does not make them less successful.

Which college is better for CSE: IET DAVV, Indore or SGSITS, Indore?

SS
Sreemona Sengupta Posted On : April 21st, 2021
B.E. from Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (2020)

Both of them are very good colleges and are recognized and reputed colleges of our country, but there are certain aspects which make them different from each other and in this scenario, CSE at SGSITS will be much better than at IET DAVV. Here are the reasons.

  • Faculty: The faculty of SGSITS is very talented and experienced, and all of them have done PhD from IITs and IISC. This can be considered a big achievement and can be one of the major reasons to join SGSITS.
  • Campus Life: The campus life of SGSITS is very good and the technical fest is amazing. But the cultural fest of IET DAVV is very good too.
  • Placements: The placements of SGSITS are very good as its alumni network is very good which has resulted in good placements every year. Companies like Infosys, Wipro, Microsoft, Deloitte, TCS, and many other top companies visit the campus every year and recruit many students. And the highest number of students recruited are from the CSE branch.
  • Brand Value: As SGSITS is a very old institute and has produced remarkable results over the years, it is widely recognized by people and holds great value in the corporate world which can be much beneficial for your career, in securing higher packages.

Overall, it is safe to say that SGSIT is a better alternative.

There is no separate application for IET DAVV. Counseling for IET DAVV Indore is based on JEE Main results.

Admission Procedure:

  • The admission procedure in IET DAVV through DTE counseling is very simple. There are 3 main steps you need to follow- Registration, Choice filling, and Reporting to the allotted institute.
  • You will see a tab naming “Select course for counseling”, click on it, select bachelor of engineering then full time, and then apply online. Fill the form and you will be registered.

How is the CS branch in IET-DAVV?

DD
Drishanu Dey Posted On : June 15th, 2021
B.E. Computer Science Engineering, Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV (2019)

IET-DAVV is one of the best among state-level engineering colleges in M.P. If we consider Indore and MANIT Bhopal as well, state-wise, the rank of IET-DAVV becomes 4th.

  • IET-DAVV offers the best placement offers to the CS branch. This isn't exclusive to IET-DAVV, as it goes for any engineering college around the country.
  • In recent years, students also scored well in CAT and GATE. But for coding, your company would stand out. There are people who scored 99 percentile in their CAT and for GATE.
  • If you are into coding, you will find some like-minded people on campus.
  • The infrastructure, administration, faculty strength are not that great but decent.
  • For CS, you can expect a CTC around 5-12 LPA. In 2020, the average CTC offered in the placement drive was 6 LPA.

In case you do not make it to the top 15 NITs, do not lose hope and go for IET-DAVV.

Can I transfer colleges from JEC Jabalpur to IET-DAVV?

RS
Ratna Singh Posted On : March 5th, 2021
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV

Most of the colleges have a transfer policy. IET-DAVV, Indore is one among such colleges. In IET, fortunately, admission is allowed in the second year of engineering. The only two conditions are as follows.

  • IET should have vacant seats.
  • The candidate has successfully cleared the first year of B.E. with passing marks in all the subjects as per the passing criteria of the previous college, i.e., JEC Jabalpur.

There are chances that the transfer applications are piled-up more than the available number of seats. If this is the case, the transfer depends upon the merit of marks obtained in the first year.

You should contact IET and enquire about the conditions for student transfer. Sometimes reputed institutes do not accept a transfer from lesser-known institutes. For example, IITs do not take a transfer from a state university. So, do your research.
