How much can I score in the MAKAUT exams if I only solve an organizer?

PS

If you are only interested in scoring good marks and not gaining any knowledge in the process, then yes a month of mugging up an organizer is more than enough to get an 8+ CGPA. You can adopt this strategy till the 4th semester at the most. Soon you will regret it and realize you have been playing with your own future.

Organizer is the escape from the understanding of concepts, a shortcut devised for those who are below average in studies. It does nothing to clarify your concepts and will give you short-term benefits only.

In the final year it will hit you that you have wasted 4 years doing nothing and now getting jobs or preparing for competitive exams become a big task. Ultimately you will impact your career big time so it’s better to undo the mistake as soon as possible.

How does one score good marks in MAKAUT 1st semester?

S

MAKAUT semester exams are very easy and thus it’s possible to score good marks in the first semester itself. The course is usually a follow-up of your class 12th concepts in Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering Mathematics. For these, you can either refer to H.K DAS or B.V RAMANA. The easiest way out is the WBUT organizer.

Personally, I don’t think studying from the organizer for the technical subjects will do you any good in any way. It will distort your concepts and make you a mugger. It’s best to refer to standard textbooks like BL Theraja, Abhijit Chakraborty, V.K Mehta, Jain and Jain, and Vicent del Toro.

Once you have understood the concepts thoroughly through these standard books, only then should you refer to the organizer for the previous year's question bank which too only questions and not the solutions.

The rest of the subjects can easily be done by making notes during classes. An additional key to scoring good marks in the MAKAUT semester exams is to maintain good handwriting and make your answers look appealing.

If anyone failed in the MAKAUT practical exam, is it considered to year lag?

KR

MAKAUT practical exams depend on a variety of factors ranging from your lab attendance to your viva. Many MAKAUT colleges give practical marks based on how frequently you attended the lab sessions. Your lab file check-in on time might also be considered at times.

Another major criterion in your MAKAUT practical exams is your viva as it directly affects your grades. The average practical exam score is 7-8 but with a better viva, you can increase your score up to 9-10.

Short attendance may result in failure of practical exams which in turn becomes a year lag. So, don't underestimate the importance of MAKAUT practical exams.

How can I get above 8.5 YGPA in the MAKAUT 1st year?

KR

The only way one can get an 8.5 YGPA in MAKAUT is to study hard. An 8.5 YGPA in MAKAUT means marks in the range of 85-90 in every subject. Every subject gets at least 30 marks in internals. To score good marks in internals follow these simple steps

  • Try to maintain 75% above attendance
  • Submit your assignments on time
  • Give considerable importance to internal exams.

Now that you have a minimum of 30 marks in your hand, your goal should be to score anything above 60 in your University exams. The steps for semester exams are also similar

  • Go through each and every concept thoroughly
  • Study hard and don’t lose focus or give in to distractions
  • Get yourself an Organizer
  • Jot down your syllabus to see where you have to begin
  • Get hold of an organizer.
  • Check the pattern of the previous year's questions to get an idea of the paper
  • Learn the MCQs and short answers from the organizer.
  • The pattern in which the questions are combined can be checked from the Group-C portion.
  • Once you are done with the syllabus, check the questions you noted down earlier and see if you are able to answer them or not.
  • If you fail to complete the syllabus on time just learn all the questions from the organizer.

In addition to securing a good YGPA, one needs to acquire knowledge and a good skill set to ensure a bright future.

Is 7.56 a good grade point in the 1st semester MAKAUT exam to get a good job?

KR

A 7.56 CGPA is a decent score but its value depends on what your career goals and future prospects are.

If you are looking for a job in the usual software companies, then 7.5 is a pretty decent score. But to stay on the safer side, try getting an 8.0 aggregate when it comes to DGPA. An 8.25 DGPA means 75% which seems better than 68% when asked in the interview.

If your goal is higher studies, you will have to prepare for GATE. Also, I will recommend you pursue a Master's only if you are planning to do a Ph.D. in the future. This is because if you end up going for a job after your Master there is no need to waste 2 years after your Bachelor's in the first place. Most companies offer equal packages to BTech and MTech students so you merely wasted 2 years of your life.

If you are willing to do a Ph.D. but want to take some rest after the Bachelor, try to get a research fellowship.

Ultimately it all depends on the DGPA and a 7.5 is by no means a bad score, but still getting an 8 wouldn’t hurt you. Also, try getting a few courses under your belt. This will present you as a better candidate during interviews.

Will MAKAUT allow students to sit for exams if there is poor attendance?

S
Shabnam Posted On : June 23rd, 2023
studied at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University Of Technology

Despite having full control, MAKAUT rarely interferes in students’ affairs regarding attendance and choice of subjects. The decision of allowing students to sit for exams in case of poor attendance lies with the respective department.

Here are a few policies adopted by the department in case of poor attendance.

  • In case your attendance is below 70%, a letter is written to the HOD and then it is forwarded to the Exam cell of the institute.
  • If your attendance is below 60%, you will have to meet the HOD along with your graduation and an apology letter
  • In case your attendance is below 50%, you will have to meet the Principal or the Dean.
  • Those having attendance below 40% are required to submit medical documents justifying their poor attendance.
  • If your attendance is below 30–20% you will not be allowed to sit for exams unless you justify your situation with proper documents.

So, the decision to not permit students to sit for exams is the last step and is taken only during extreme situations.

What are the pass marks for electronics and electrical in the 1st semester of Makaut?

AK
Aditya Kapoor Posted On : June 26th, 2023
B.tech EEE Makaut Kolkata

Electronics and Electrical in the first year is pretty challenging and many students face problems in getting good marks in these subjects. The passing marks for this subject are 40 out of 100. Now, 30 marks are in the hands of your teachers. Usually, teachers don’t give less than 20. So out of 100, you get 20 grace marks and in order to pass you need to score another 20.

These 20 marks can easily be scored by practicing and solving the sums of the various laws of the first chapter of electrical. The first chapter is extremely important and carries many marks. So understand it thoroughly with the help of YouTube videos, notes, and other sources.

Adopt a positive mindset and study. Keep jotting down important points. The best and easiest way is to learn the organizer thoroughly.

How can I be a 9 pointer in MAKAUT exams?

KR
Kritika Roy Posted On : June 26th, 2023
studied at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University Of Technology

The best and the simplest way to score a 9-pointer in MAKAUT exams is to get your hands on the MAKAUT organizer and memorize it thoroughly. Prioritize the questions which are repeated frequently because they have a high chance of getting repeated again.

For a 9 pointer in MAKAUT exams, you need

  • A good grasp of theoretical knowledge
  • Excellent writing skills

But here is a catch. The semester exams at MAKAUT are surely important but I don't think you should devote more than 1 month to its preparation and utilize most of your time here in learning something new. You can work on a project or even do an internship somewhere. The college is just responsible for imparting knowledge and it's you who decides how to utilize the acquired knowledge in a way beneficial for your career. Depending solely on college placements will do you no good so involve in additional activities to make the most of your time here.
