Which would be a better choice for a one-year MBA in India, IIM Bangalore (EPGP), IIM Ahmedabad (PGPX), or ISB(PGP)?

All the three options are equally good. The choice depends on your profile and career goals. Here are some details regarding these options to assist you-

  • Student Profile- The target students of ISB PGP and IIM Ahmedabad PGPX are slightly different. ISB prefers professionals with 2+ years of experience, and IIMA prefers those with 4 to 5 years of experience.
  • Ranking- IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and ISB are all highly ranked business schools. They are among the top 50 business schools in the world. All three are at par with one another.
  • Batch size- ISB PGP intakes 500+ students at a time, and IIMA PGPX intakes 100+. A bigger batch size means more opportunities, while a smaller batch size means stronger teacher- student relations.
  • Flagship Program- One year PGP is the flagship program of ISB.

These are some parameters to help you make a choice. All the three are excellent colleges, and you should choose among them based on your personal goals.

What GMAT score is required for admission at ISB Hyderabad?

SR
Sumit Rana Posted On : March 17th, 2022
MBA from Indian School of Business (2020)

ISB Hyderabad GMAT cutoff stays around 710+. The institute follows a ‘no cutoff’ criteria for its management programs. So, there is no sectional or overall cutoff as such but a 710+ GMAT score is considered safe for getting admission. Besides GMAT score, ISB Hyderabad also considers academic profile, work experience, co-curricular activities, etc. for shortlisting students.

What are my chances of getting into ISB, Hyderabad?

GG

MBA Marketing, Indian School of Business (2018)

I have no information about your profile and cannot define your exact chances of getting into ISB Hyderabad. The selection process includes aspects like

  • Work experience: ISB Hyderabad admission requires the candidates to have at least 2 years of work experience. In case you have no work experience, go for YLP admission and then join after 2 years.
  • GMAT score: You should have a competitive GMAT or GRE score to make it into ISB Hyderabad.
  • Extracurricular background: ISB Hyderabad focuses a lot on your extracurricular background and offers decent weightage to it.
  • Admission essays: Your admission essays should be convincing enough for the ISB Hyderabad admission team to save a seat for you
  • Interview: The last factor that determines your admission is the interview which evaluates your personal attributes.

Since you have no work experience, aim for a higher GMAT score and add extracurricular skills to your profile to increase your chances of admission.

What is the cut-off for IBS Hyderabad?

TC
Tanuj Chandra Posted On : February 21st, 2023
Former Team Manager at Amazon India (amazon.in) (2018–2019)

Securing admission at ICFAI Business School Hyderabad does not require a specific cut-off. Instead, your performance on the IBSAT examination, as well as your GD-PI (Group Discussion and Personal Interview), are taken into consideration. It is recommended that you attempt all questions on the IBSAT exam, as there is no negative marking, to increase your chances of being called for the GD-PI.

Out of the 20,000 shortlisted candidates who are screened over the course of 10 days, only 1,200 students are selected for the main campus, with the rest being allocated to other campuses based on their individual preferences. In order to stand out in this competitive process, it is advisable to focus on your GD-PI performance, as well as to have a solid understanding of aptitude.

You can apply for PGDM admission at IMS Ghaziabad for the 2022 academic year. To be considered for admission, you must take one of the following entrance exams: CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, GMAT, and ATMA. Your score in these exams, along with your performance in the GD-PI and WAT, will be used to determine your eligibility for the PGDM program. To be considered for admission, you must achieve a percentile score between 80 and 95 on your entrance exam.

I currently have a salary of 25L as a product manager. Is it worth it doing an MBA further at ISB, Hyderabad or in US universities? I want to do entrepreneurship, and a MBA for networking

Since your main goal is to grow a stronger network, considering US universities is of no use. However, if you are okay with developing international networks US universities are a viable option.

Comparing ISB Hyderabad with a US university is a lengthy discussion. Your choice should depend on whether you are planning to settle abroad or settle within India. If your ultimate goal is settling abroad, US universities should be your only option.

If we compare the pay structure, the average package offered at ISB Hyderabad is nearly the same as your current salary whereas US universities offer 7 times better salaries.

Both options require a lot of effort from the initial stage. To get into either, you need a spectacular profile and an impactful application strategy.

Can I do a second MBA from ISB after around 2 years of work experience and my first MBA from a Tier II institute?

There is literally nothing that is stopping you from doing a double MBA. Many students are not satisfied with the brand value or outcome of their first MBA degree and might opt for a double MBA from a better B School with clearer goals.

But if you are doing so, make sure you have a credible story up your sleeve to explain why you need a second MBA.

  • They might ask what you learned from your former MBA
  • Why you need a second MBA
  • Are you doing the second MBA merely for the ISB tag

Prepare such questions well and ponder on the real reason why you are found for another MBA. Rather than a hasty decision, you can also wait for a few years and see if a second MBA is really necessary.

When choosing a B.B.A program, it is important to consider the quality of the program and what it offers compared to other universities. IBS Hyderabad offers a strong B.B.A program that stands out in comparison to other universities such as GGSIPU, Amity, and Christ.

What is the GRE cutoff for ISB Hyderabad?

AK
Anindita Kundu Posted On : May 21st, 2021
MBA from Indian School of Business (2018)

Having friends at ISB Hyderabad, I got to know that there is no such cut-off for ISB.

  • Firstly the interview panel checks your overall achievements starting from schooling till your graduation level, in the curricular and co-curricular field.
  • They examine your entire profile for your selection. Then you get shortlisted for further selection.
  • Many of them did not manage to get very high scores in the GRE but still, got selected. It is just because of their aptitude that is reflected in their profile.
  • It is easier for those who already served in the Indian army and then decided to enter ISB. It has been seen that they have already cracked the SSB exam so they must have higher values like integrity, patience, and discipline imbibed in their personality.

Thus we can say that there is no particular cut-off, but for ISB, Hyderabad you are judged according to your entire profile.

What is the current procedure for selection in ISB (Hyderabad or Mohali) in EEO (early entry option)?

RR
Rakshit Ranjan Posted On : January 30th, 2023
PGP from Indian School of Business (2021)

ISB Hyderabad's selection criteria lay great emphasis on Work Experience. The candidates are preferred and differentiated based on this aspect a lot here. To overcome this problem, ISB Hyderabad has come up with an Early Entry Option wherein candidates with little or no work experience can freely be evaluated on the basis of their academic performance, leadership potential, and personality attributes. Some highlights of the selection process of an Early Entry candidate are

  • The early entry applicants will have to in turn showcase their skills and capability by putting forward their goals, their prior achievements, and experiences, and why they are pursuing an MBA. An early-entry applicant has no work experience so his reason for MBA should be backed by strong goals.
  • Because your academic performance will be the major criterion of evaluating your profile, each and every aspect of the same will be checked thoroughly. Any flaws can pose a problem to your admission.
  • For an Early Entry applicant, his interview round is the most crucial as his personal attributes need to be evaluated which can be done through the interview only.

The best thing an Early Entry applicant can do to increase his/her chances of admission is to get involved in extracurricular activities or get additional certificates and prepare best for the interview

  • Motivating others and becoming a better person professionally should be established.

Academics:

  • A good academic record and a GMAT score of above 710 can prove an excellent academic potential.
  • Studying in a top institute and good academics are an added advantage to the cause.
