I have scored 184 in the NMAT. Do I have any chance of getting admission in NMIMS Navi Mumbai or ISB Hyderabad?

AG

With a score of 184 in NMAT, you have a decent chance of getting admission to NMIMS Mumbai, but as the cut-off for ISB Hyderabad is usually higher than that of NMIMS, so your chances of admission to ISB may be lower than NMIMS Mumbai.

That being said, the admission process for both NMIMS and ISB is holistic and takes into consideration several factors other than just NMAT scores, such as academic performance, work experience, extracurricular activities, and performance in the interview and/or written exam.

Therefore, it is difficult to predict your chances of admission without considering your overall profile.

I would recommend that you consult the official websites and keep checking the Collegedunia articles to get a better understanding of their admission processes and criteria. You may also consider speaking to current students or alumni of these institutes to get insights into their experience and advice on the admission process.

What are my chances of getting into ISB Hyderabad or Mohali?

AW

MBA Marketing, Indian School of Business (2018)

Firstly it's not up to you to choose Hyderabad or Mohali. You can just apply to ISB and the campus is allotted on the basis of a strange algorithm.

Now coming back to the question of your chances of getting into ISB, it seems I know nothing about your profile. I will state some general points regarding ISB Hyderabad admissions

  • The first and foremost requirement is entrance exams like GMAT and GRE. The average is around 710 for GMAT and 325 for GRE.
  • You need a minimum of 2 years of work experience
  • You require and Letter of Recommendation and introspective essays
  • You need to feel a comprehensive application form that attracts the judges

More than work experience, the quality of your work and achievements matter more. While writing the essays mention the unique qualities and roles you have fulfilled in life.

Are XLRI and ISB too particular about past academics, like the IIM's?

DS

XLRI and ISB are concerned about your past academics but not like the IIM’s. In the IIM’s selection process past academic info’s like the results of X, XII and graduation do matters. The eligibility criteria of XLRI and ISB are as follows:

  • The major route for XLRI admission into the PGDM programmes is the XAT, which is followed by an individual interview. For the PGDM-GM programme, XLRI also accepts GMAT and GRE scores. 88 to 95 percentile is the XLRI XAT Cutoff.
  • But along with the XAT scores, Individuals possessing good academic background along with relevant work experience and extra-curricular activities stays in the upper hand.
  • Your former academic standing and how you did on the GMAT/GRE test help ISB (Indian School of Business) to determine how well you can handle the program's demands. Along with the total GMAT/GRE score, the institute also takes into account grades from the 12th grade, graduation grades, post-graduate grades, and certification scores, as appropriate.

While the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) do consider class 10th and 12th marks as part of their admission process, XLRI and ISB prioritize other factors like entrance test scores, work experience, and interviews. XLRI and ISB place less stringent emphasis on school-level marks, focusing more on holistic candidate evaluation in comparison to the IIM’s.

Why are IIMs more popular than ISB Hyderabad among Indian households?

NR
Neha Reddy Posted On : February 8th, 2023
PGP in Management from Indian School of Business (Graduated 2018)

There are many major reasons why ISB Hyderabad is not as popular as IIMs among Indian households. Some of them include

  • ISB Hyderabad is a private non-AICTE affiliated institute that functions under a totally different model.
  • Owing to its hefty fees(around 30+ Lakhs), it's almost inaccessible to an average Indian.
  • The batch size is huge becoming a major obstacle during placements
  • The 1-year program fails to provide in-depth exposure and is just a source of Certificates and a brand tag.
  • It does not provide International placements to the majority of students who do not belong to the elite class.

All these reasons are strong enough to persuade one against joining ISB Hyderabad and is thus not much popular among Indian households.

The reason why IIMs are popular in contrast to ISB Hyderabad are

  • Provided jobs similar in nature to the ones provided by ISB Hyderabad at a much lower fees.
  • The 2 year MBA program provides an in-depth exposure to the curriculum in contrast to the 1 year program at ISB Hyderabad

So all this makes IIMs much popular in India despite ISB Hyderabad global rankings.

Which MBA is better, an online MBA from the University of Bradford for £17000 or a part time MBA (PGP Pro) from ISB, Hyderabad at double the price?

AZ
Asif Zafar Posted On : February 8th, 2023
MBA from Indian School of Business (2020

Whenever you are in a dilemma of choosing an MBA program you need to consider 2 very important things.

  • MBA does not just mean learning the curriculum, it has a higher picture that includes; the tag attached, the alumni network you get access to, etc
  • Another major thing to consider is the cost-benefit analysis. Will the high fees you spend bring back favorable results?

Once you have done this basic analysis, go on and choose an MBA program that suits your needs best.

Your question is regarding an online MBA from the University of Bradford. One thing you need to know is that no matter how good the university is, an online MBA is not as impactful as an offline MBA. The lack of contact hours, peer learning, and the network does not do justice to the MBA program.

ISB Hyderabad on the other hand is a recognized brand and its global rankings are a testament to its worth and brand. ISB is ranked 44th best program in the list of top 100 global MBAs (FT Rankings). Not many MBA programs can match that level let alone online programs.

The most important thing to consider is the cost analysis benefit and the quality of learning rendered by both programs.

Why it is continuously hard for IIM A, B, C, XLRI to compete with ISB in executive program in spite of it being just 15 years old?

RC
Rashika Chowdhary Posted On : June 2nd, 2021
studied at IESE Business School (2018)

One of my friends at ISB claims that the main reason for ISB Hyderabad to hold the top position in the executive program over the years. It is its core competency rather than just competing with institutes like IIMs and XLRI, who lead in the 2-year MBA and PGDM programs.

The points below provide a brief overview of the success story of ISB Hyderabad.

  • ISB Hyderabad has been developing with a work experience of above two years at least.
  • Due to the shorter time span of the executive program, it is more popular and in demand.
  • In the traditional MBA program, the curriculum is an extension to the undergraduate program, emphasizing mostly classroom learning.
  • ISB Hyderabad has somewhat established a cheaper alternative to the so-called American MBA system.
  • There are collaborations with companies like Kellogg’s, which helped in fulfilling the demand for a world-class MBA degree.
  • They have a lot of contribution in its breaking into the Indian executive MBA program market.
  • It has resulted in a program that is half-priced as the American MBA programs.
  • The program in ISB is just 11 months, as opposed to the 24 months MBA program from other institutes.
  • For fresh graduates, IIMs are always the first priority, which offers a standard 2-years MBA degree. The core competency of IIMs is to train the less experienced students. But, in the last few years, IIMs are getting into the executive programs in MBA, but those are treated under the non-core segment.

Although ISB charges twice as much as IIMs at present times, it has been the first choice for working professionals for the reasons stated above. The core competency of ISB discussed above makes it the clear winner in executive education, which the IIMs and XLRI cannot defeat.

How can a student get admission in ISB Hyderabad (YLP) who has not so good academic record, not good in extra curricular activities, and has done no extraordinary thing in his life?

ST
Saurabh Tiwari Posted On : February 7th, 2023
MBA Admissions Coach

The YLP program is one of the most competitive programs as its candidates are students who have no work experience yet are desperate for admission. In order to compensate for the lack of work experience in the YLP admits, ISB looks for candidates that have excellent caliber. This can be evaluated through their accomplishments in life such as extracurricular experiences, social work, or extra certificates. Therefore only people from top institutions from all over India with exceptional profiles are able to make it.

Considering your profile, I will only give you the truth. Since you have no additional qualifications and lack in many areas the chances of admission are very less. However, don't get discouraged, instead work on your MBA essay. This might be your last chance for admission. You can show your talents and how you are a unique individual and can achieve great success. Another way is to go for the Early Entry Option which gives you additional 2 years to improve your profile.
