Union Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated the campus of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Ahmedabad. With this, there are now seven NIPERs.

New Delhi: As per the latest updates, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated the permanent campus of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Ahmedabad on September 30, 2023.

The inauguration of NIPER Gandhinagar was done in the presence of State Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. With this, there are now seven NIPERs in Mohali, Guwahati, Gandhinagar, Hajipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Rae Bareli.

Speaking on this occasion, the Union Home Minister shared that NIPERs are establishing the groundwork for the nation to become self-sufficient in the pharmaceutical sector. NIPER, Gandhinagar comprises eight buildings on roughly 60 acres.

The institute will aim to contribute to the field of medicine for both the nation and the entire world. “NIPER Gandhinagar has been ranked among the top 10 pharmacy institutes of the country for the last three years,” he added.

Adding to the statement, he said, “There is a law university, National Forensic Science University, Raksha Shakti University, Deen Dayal Petroleum University, and today NIPER is also starting here which will infuse a new energy to all the educational institutions here”.

The minister advised NIPER Gandhinagar to elevate its top position in the world for medical education and research. NIPER was designed with the goal of connecting education, research, quality, and excellence with production and public service.

As of now, there are a total of 7 NIPERs in the country. NIPER Mohali and Guwahati are the only fully functional institutes. The construction work of NIPER is in progress in Hajipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Rae Bareli. 

As per the data, about 8,000 students have graduated from the NIPERs, 380 patents are registered, and over 7,000 research papers have been published by the institute. NIPER has signed over 270 MoUs with industries and NIPER with the goal of linking knowledge with business.
