With the Telangana state government cancelling the intermediate examination of the Telangana Open School Society (TOSS) and declaring all students as having passed, students are worried.

The intermediate examination of TOSS was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They are now ineligible to take the Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) with 35 percent marks.

The students believe it was unjust of the state to have awarded them minimum pass marks. Students who wished to get admitted to B.Sc, B.Com and BA courses now feel it is impossible to do so.

A CEC student who wishes to pursue BA said, “Even though there is no cutoff for degree admissions, seats are filled by considering marks. When marks are considered, we will be at a receiving end.”

SSC students also said that awarding 40 to 45 percent marks would have made it easier for students during admissions. “Even at intermediate and degree colleges, they have to take leftover seats as they have bare minimum marks,” said the president of the National Students’ Union of India.

The director of TOSS said that only 1,800 out of 35,000 intermediate students will take the EAMCET.
