TISS Plans to Establish New Campus Abroad

New Delhi: As per the latest updates, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has announced that the institute is planning to establish its new campus in India as well as in foreign countries as a part of TISS’s vision to broaden its reach.

The announcement was made after IIT Madras successfully inaugurated its abroad campus in Tanzania. Informing about the campus, Pro Vice Chancellor of TISS, Bino Paul said, “Our team recently visited Bhutan and engaged in fruitful conversations with their government”.

He further shared that Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations have also shown their interest in establishing TISS campuses in their countries. The global expansion of the institute will be done in line with the objections of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).

Earlier, TISS joined hands with Monash University in Australia and Queen Mary University in London to offer a student exchange program. Students who are currently pursuing their TISS courses will have the opportunity to get global exposure through this global collaboration.

As of now, the institute has many campuses in India, namely TISS Mumbai, TISS Tuljapur, TISS Maharashtra, TISS Hyderabad and TISS Guwahati. Some of the leading courses offered by TISS are BA in Social Sciences and BSc in Analytical and System Studies

For this year, the institute received over 18,000 to 22,000 applications for TISS Admission. Bino Paul said, “Our greater vision is to accommodate the demands of the NEP and introduce cutting-edge courses in social sciences. We also plan to expand our campuses within the country”.

During the launch of the new courses at the School of Vocational Education (TISS-SVE), Professor Madhushree Sekhar said, “We are delighted to introduce the NEP-compliant skill education program. Admissions for this course will commence from the academic year 2023-24, marking a fresh start for students pursuing skill education and teacher training at TISS.”
