Chitkara University is the only Indian University ranked in the top 8 positions in the Technological Innovation For The Year’ category of Times Higher Educations (THE) Asia Awards of 2020.
Considered as Oscars of Higher Education, THE awards, this year saw participation from 250 globally renowned institutions in 30 Asian countries.
As Chitkara University achieved a milestone; it is third-in-line for this year, after receiving recognitions and top rankings, globally so far.
While announcing shortlisted universities in all ten categories, Phil Baty, Chief Knowledge Officer of THE, declared many universities across different countries submitted inspirational stories. Out of the 250 excellent entries, only 80 had to be selected.
With this recognition, Chitkara University joined the prestigious league of the most coveted institutions of the world.
AVR Lab: Chitkara University
On achieving this feat, Dr Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University stated that the shortlist listing helped recognise the excellence of research and innovation carried out at the University.
She further asserted that Chitkara University’s Augmented Virtual Reality Lab has made the otherwise highly expensive AVR Technology, cost-effective for the masses.
The state-of-the-art AVR lab initiated ‘AVR Innovations: From Dusk to Dawn’ project headed by Dr Archana Mantri, Vice-Chancellor of the University.
At present, it has offered both game-based and AVR solutions for K-12, engineering and neurological education as well as military training. It has developed several commercial solutions to economise this technology implied in education as well as training.
Chitkara University’ Achievements in 2020
In the early quarters of 2020, Chitkara University was awarded the certification of E-learning Excellence for Academic Digitisation (E-LEAD) by QS IGUAGE.
The Indian division of QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), a global rating and ranking agency recognised Chitkara University as the first-ever Indian University, excelling in online education.
The certification came amid COVID-19 that recognised its long-time initiative in developing a fully functional online system of education. The university had its continued readiness to meet the requirements through its teachers, staff and students.
Further, it is the first-ever University from North India to be selected in the top Rankings of THE Impacts Ranking 2020 as released in April, this year.
The Impact rankings by Times Higher Education assess global institutions based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
Chitkara University in 8 SDGs and excelled in them as well. This University’s THE Global Ranking is presently 401-600 among 850 universities from 89 countries based on performance in the SDGs.
