SKUAST Entrance Exam 2020: Thousands Of Students Took Exam Amid COVID 19; Increase in Agricultural Recognition among Students

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) conducted agricultural entrance examination on October 11 and thousands of students appeared for the exam despite the pandemic situation.

The number of applications for the seven agricultural courses offered in the state has been doubled in the last five years.

This rapid increase is because of the awareness of the scope of high level scientific research in the agricultural field among students, said professor Nazeer Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST.

He also stated that before 5 years, the number of application receivers for agricultural courses were 5000 and now it is 10,500.

He said that he believes this increase is because of the recognition agriculture is getting in the country and around the world.

He further added that SKUAST's ranking has increased and the alumni of the university are spread all over the world making the University proud.

Ahmed also added that under the National Education Policy 2020 the university will provide more international exposure to students and teachers. 

One of the students who appeared for the SKUAST entrance exam said, "I am grateful to be able to take the agriculture course exam today amid the COVID-19 pandemic. I have come from very far and hope that my extensive preparation pays off. All COVID-19 SOPs were followed. Everyone wore wearing a mask and maintained social distance"
