On Tuesday, Punjab and Harayana High Court has issued notice to the Punjab Government’s move to provide 100% Institutional preference in state quota seats for Post Graduation Admission 2020.
The High Court in its order has invited the concerned secretary to file his/her affidavit explaining the percentage of reservation provided under the institutional reservations and also expects to hear about the violation of settled principles of law.
Dr. Subham Mittal has filed the petition regarding this issue alleging that the benefit of institutional preferences were granted to a highest extent of 100% of the total state quota seats in the general and PWD category.
According to Dr. Subham Mittal, Baba Farid University of Health and Sciences(BFUHS) has again issued notification for conducting the counselling to grant admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses by providing 100% of the institutional preference, hence depriving the deserving and qualified candidates their rightful seats, despite the issuance of direction in 2019.
The division bench consisted of Justice Jaswant Singh and Justice Sant Prakash who gave orders to the government after hearing the petition.
To this matter, BFUHS has provided the recorded list of the candidates who got admission under reservation quota in the first counselling process along with the percentage of it.
This matter has been fixed for the date June 26, 2020 for the further hearing.
