NABH has collaborated with GGSIPU to launch the 'NABH Chair of Quality' initiative aiming to empower a new generation of healthcare professionals with expertise in quality standards and NABH Accreditation.

New Delhi: NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers) has partnered with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University to establish the "NABH Chair of Quality," aimed at nurturing a new generation of healthcare professionals equipped with a deep understanding of quality standards and NABH Accreditation & Certification requirements.

The signing of the MOU between NABH and GGSIPU took place on World Patient Safety Day during the prestigious NABH Patient Safety Conference (NPSC'23) in New Delhi on September 17, 2023. 

This event brought together renowned figures, healthcare experts, and more than 500 healthcare providers from various sectors, including the National Health Authority (NHA), the Ministry of AYUSH, the Ministry of Social Justice, as well as leading government and private hospitals.

Expressing his appreciation for the collaboration, Jaxay Shah, Chairperson of QCI, highlighted its momentous impact on healthcare education in India. By incorporating NABH standards into academic curricula, they are preparing the next generation of healthcare leaders to advocate for excellence in quality and prioritize patient safety.

Dr. R. P. Singh, Secretary General of QCI, further reinforced this commitment by stating that quality is the foundation of healthcare, and this partnership highlights their unwavering dedication to cultivating future healthcare professionals who inherently prioritize and embody a commitment to quality across all levels.

Highlighting the long-term vision by expressing that their goal was to influence the trajectory of healthcare in India, Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Chairperson of NABH, explained that through the MOU, their aspiration was to nurture a cadre of professionals who would passionately advocate for the enhancement of healthcare quality standards and have a comprehensive grasp of NABH standards for hospitals and healthcare providers.

Dr. Atul Mohan Kochhar, CEO of NABH, pointed out the practical implications of this partnership and remarked saying that as these students join the healthcare workforce in the future, they will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure the delivery of top-notch patient care. 

The objective is to empower future healthcare professionals to drive quality healthcare and interact with patients more effectively, Kochhar said. 

Meanwhile, this strategic alliance aims to integrate the principles of quality and patient safety directly into the curriculum of Healthcare Management courses at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
