New Delhi: The Mizoram University and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham have jointly launched science, technology and innovation (STI) hubs in Aizawl and Serchip districts of the Mizoram state.

The collaboration of Mizoram University and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was revealed at an event called "Mizoram conclave on C20: Education and Digital transformation".

Hari Babu Kambhampati, the governor of Mizoram, attended the event as the main guest. The event's presiding speaker was Renu Sharma.

The Indian government's department of science and technology is providing funding for the centres. These centres would encourage sustainable livelihoods through capacity building, skill development for tribal groups, and digital literacy, According to a statement from the institution.

The hub managers would raise awareness about substance misuse, educate people about nutrition, and persist in their efforts to enhance the general well-being of the Mizoram population. Governor Kambhampati said: "In Mizoram, we have a tight-knit community and a thriving civil society. Our NGOs deal with a variety of subjects, from societal difficulties to environmental concerns. With a goal to create an integrated and sustainable approach for promoting education, health, and livelihood through digital inclusion, I am pleased to see that Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has worked closely with the indigenous populations in mainland India".

"The launch of STI hubs in Mizoram under the C20 banner is a historic moment, as we work to improve tribal livelihoods, education, and sustainability in the state", said Raghu Raman, a faculty member at the Amrita School of Business.

It seeks to establish social companies, protect indigenous knowledge networks connected to ayurveda, and develop a mobile/web platform to allow more effective intervention delivery. Through self-help groups and knowledge sharing, these centres will directly benefit over 3,000 people and indirectly almost 40% of the ST/SC population in the two districts.

Additionally, they will promote awareness for the issues including substance misuse, digital literacy, and nutritional and health imbalances.
