New Delhi: On the commemoration of International Women's Day, Lovely Professional University (LPU) celebrated women's accomplishments, resilience, and indomitable spirit. The event, named 'She Rises: Celebrating Women's Day,' unfolded on the campus, resonating with the theme 'Investing in Women: Accelerating Progress.'

The presence of Pro-Chancellor Mrs. Rashmi Mittal LPU Faculty added grace to the occasion as she extended warm wishes to the entire female faculty and students of LPU, embracing the essence of Women's Day. In her inspirational speech, Mrs. Rashmi Mittal highlighted the critical role of investing in women as a catalyst for advancing progress.

Emphasising the significance of women's empowerment, including core values such as decision-making freedom, gender equality, and empowerment, she acknowledged the simplicity of these ideals while emphasising the need for substantial efforts to turn them into reality.

Mrs. Mittal said that investing in women's education and training contributes to the economic growth of families and the nation. She encouraged women to pursue self-education and self-reliance, laying the groundwork for a more progressive society.

The event included diverse cultural performances, each weaving a vibrant narrative of the lives and contributions of extraordinary women in India. Students captivated the audience with Indian group songs, soulful Western solo performances, enchanting Kathak classical dances, thought-provoking Kavi Sammelans, and compelling displays of dance and mime.

A special thematic dance, 'A Dance for Mother India,' took centre stage, with students skillfully portraying the stories of freedom fighters and influential women who have reshaped India's narrative. The audience witnessed Arunima Sinha's remarkable journey through the art of mime, from a traumatic encounter with robbers that cost her a leg to becoming the first female amputee to conquer Mount Everest.

Her story served as a testament to the resilience and determination within every woman. Fun games and a fashion show added to the festivities, creating a memorable celebration for all women involved.
