IIT Guwahati Launches Indias Largest Remote Pilot Training Hub with EduRade

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has collaborated with EduRade to establish India's largest Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO). This cutting-edge facility has the potential to operate nine medium-class drones at the same time. 

As per IIT Guwahati, the state-of-the-art facility of RPTO will improve drone technology in India. It further aims to reach the objectives set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making India a leading drone hub by 2030 as well as goals of the 'Namo Drone Didi' initiative.

The IIT Guwahati RPTO aims to offer a DGCA-Certified Medium Class Drone Pilot Training Course to young people in the Northeast and other parts of India. In addition to this, it will benefit the women in agricultural self-help groups (SHGs) selected through the Namo Drone Didi Yojna. 

After completing the training course, the participants of the course will be awarded a Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India. It will provide them with an opportunity to professionally fly drones and pursue employment as Certified Drone Pilots.

Informing about this initiative, Prof. Parameswar K. Iyer, Dean PRBR at IIT Guwahati said, "Since the past three years IIT Guwahati has been dedicating itself to cultivate innovation and excellence in drone technology services, education, empowering organizations and individuals to emerge as leaders and pioneers in this swiftly advancing field."

Adding to the statement, Biswajit Dey, Director of RC Hobbytech Solutions Pvt. Ltd., said, "Another objective of this collaboration is to assist other industries with drone pilots, such as agriculture, disaster management, real estate, logistics, and other such sectors."
