IIT Guwahati Launched First Online BSc (Hons) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence; Check Details Here

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has launched its first fully online degree programme. The undergraduate degree program at IIT Guwahati named as Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will be delivered through Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

According to IIT Guwahati, the course will be of a total 4 year duration in ‘Multi-Exit System’. In a multi-exit system, you will be given options to exit from the course after a certain point of time with a certificate degree offered at every point.

Who are Eligible for the Program?

You need to pass Class XII or equivalent with at least 60% marks and Mathematics as one of the compulsory subjects to be eligible to apply for the program at IIT Guwahati. You will have to enroll into an online Course, based on basic Mathematics, developed specifically for this program. Applicants will be ranked using a Composite Score that will be based upon their performance in Class X, XII, and the online course. Admission will be given on the basis of the rank. Alternatively, applicants eligible to appear in JEE (Adv) and have registered for it (in any year) will be given direct admission.

Teaching and Assessment of the Online B.Sc Course

Teaching: Fully Online. Medium of instruction is English. Each instruction week will cover recorded videos, live sessions, and discussion hour. Most of the teaching will be done by the faculty members of IIT Guwahati. Some industrial interactions, invited guest lectures, and industry courses/certificates will be made available as part of the degree curriculum.

Assessments: As the programme is being offered to international audience, the assessments will be conducted in online proctored mode. No need to travel to any centre for appearing in classroom examinations.

Fee Structure of the Online B.Sc Course

The total fees for the Online B.Sc Program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is Rs. 3,49,000 for four-year BSc(Hons) degree as per the following break-up:

• Admission Fee: Rs. 50,000. To be paid once at the time of admission.
• Course Registration Fee: Rs. 1,000 per credit. To be paid every trimester based on the number of credits registered.
