IIT Guwahati and Samagra Shiksha Assam Hosted Mega Science and Maths Olympiad on March 30

IIT Guwahati and Samagra Shiksha Assam hosted an Olympiad event under the umbrella of the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan initiative. The event was meant to help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and maths and science skills.

IIT Guwahati partners with Samagra Shiksha Assam to host science and maths olympiad

New Delhi: IIT Guwahati and Samagra Shiksha Assam jointly hosted a Mega Science and Maths Olympiad on March 30, 2024. The Mega Olympiad had over 1.14 lakh participants from over 3500 schools all across Assam. 

The Olympiad organized by IIT Guwahati and Samagra Shiksha Assam was held in two phases - district and state. In both phases, students solved a pen-and-paper OMR test on the basic concepts of maths and science. 

The district rounds were held on March 18 and the final state round took place on March 30, 2024. The event was held to understand the interest and knowledge level of secondary school students about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects. 

Key Highlights of IIT Guwahati and Samagra Shiksha Assam Olympiad 2024

The final (state) round of IIT Guwahati and Samagra Shiksha Assam Olympiad had a total of 62 finalists. At the end of the event, 3 winners were declared from Namdeuri High School, Dhalasatra High School, and Hawaipur High School respectively.  

Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Officiating Director of IIT Guwahati, spoke after the event. After congratulating the winners, he said, “IIT Guwahati is very happy to organize this Olympiad event and will do everything in its capacity to enhance the quality of STEM education in Assam and the northeast region and promote activities related to STEM education by engaging with all the stakeholders of the education sector.”
