New Delhi: The University School of Law and Legal Studies (USLLS) of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) organized a first-of-its-kind Moot Court competition for school students. A total of 76 teams participated in the competition. On the USLLS campus in Dwarka, Delhi, the tournament took place.

Class XI and XII students from all schools in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) were eligible to participate. The USLLS's Criminal Justice Research Cell (CJRC) organised the mock trial competition in association with the Global Campus for Human Rights, Kathmandu School of Law, and the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

Criminal justice-related research and instruction are the focus of the USLLS's CJRC. The horizontal domicile reservation controversy in educational institutions served as the basis for the moot court competition. The students had to draw memorials, which were written contributions, then deliver oral arguments to a panel of judges.

The judges for the moot court competition were distinguished attorneys from the Sessions/District court and Delhi High Court. The USLLS Dean, Prof. Queeny Pradhan, Vice-Chancellor of GGSIPU, Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, and other dignitaries attended the competition as well.

The Prabhu Dayal team from Shalimar Bagh came in second, and the team that won was from N.K. Bagrodia School in Rohini. The presentation of numerous additional awards, including those for best speaker, best researcher, greatest memorial, best mentor, and best team, brought the ceremony to a close. The mock trial contest was a huge success. It gave school children a platform to learn about the legal system and upskill their advocacy, research, and critical thinking abilities.

Additionally, the competition helped close the gap between schoolchildren and law students. All of the competitors, judges, and dignitaries were thanked by the competition's organizers for their assistance. They also expressed gratitude to the CJRC for their efforts in planning the event. In the USLLS's history, the moot court competition was an important occasion. It was a historical occasion that will live on in memory for many years.
