Chandigarh University (CU) has achieved the top rank among India's private universities in the latest edition of the QS World University Ranking. In the QS WUR-2024, CU secured an overall rank of 771-780 out of 2963 evaluated institutions.
New Delhi: Chandigarh University (CU) has accomplished a significant feat by attaining the top position among private universities in India, according to the latest edition of the prestigious Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking.
According to the QS WUR-2024 evaluation, which included 2963 institutions, Chandigarh University has maintained its impressive track record by securing an overall ranking of 771-780. This is an improvement from its previous ranking of 801-1001 in the previous edition released last year. The university's overall score in this year's ranking stands at 15.2.
A total of 45 Indian universities have been included in the 20th edition of the QS rankings, with Chandigarh University (CU) ranked at the 20th position among all public and private institutes in India. The university also achieved the 233rd spot in the overall rankings for Asia.
Meanwhile, IIT Bombay has claimed the top rank among Indian public institutes in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2024, while CU has risen to become India's leading private university.
In addition to its recent achievements, CU has achieved an impressive debut in the 2023 QS World University Subject Rankings. The university secured the first position in India for Hospitality Management, the 11th position in India for Engineering and Technology, Computer Science, and Information Systems, the 12th position in Mechanical Engineering, and the 16th position in Business and Management Studies.
Furthermore, CU obtained the 27th rank among India's top universities in the recently published NIRF Rankings 2023.
Earlier, in the previous year, the university became the youngest university to be featured in the Top 200 QS Asia University Rankings 2023.
In terms of specific indicators, Chandigarh University holds the second position among Indian universities for both international students and international faculty.
Moreover, the university has secured the 6th rank in India for employer reputation, which takes into account employability and the institution's standing among employers. In terms of academic reputation, CU is placed at the 16th spot in India, and it stands at the 13th position in the faculty-student ratio indicator, according to the QS ranking.
It can be noted that Chandigarh University holds a prominent position among the private universities in the country, being ranked first in employer reputation and second in academic reputation. In terms of sustainability, CU has secured the sixth position, showcasing its commitment to environmental responsibility.
When it comes to various indicators, the university has shown remarkable improvement in its scores across the board. The score for employer reputation has significantly increased to 43.4 this year, up from 31.8 in the previous edition of the rankings.
Furthermore, the score for international faculty ratio has risen to 34.1, and the faculty-student ratio score has also increased to 21.1, compared to last year's scores of 24.6 and 18.7, respectively. In terms of academic reputation, the university's score has jumped to 11.5 this year, up from 8.6 last year.
Similarly, the international student ratio score has also experienced an increase, reaching 15.1 this year compared to 11.2 in the previous year.
Expressing the university's consistent improvement in national and international rankings, CU Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu said that these rankings demonstrated CU's dedication to academic excellence and research, driven by its faculty and students.
He mentioned that these rankings evoke excitement and deepen their commitment to providing quality education to young individuals, while also establishing new benchmarks in higher education.
Satnam Singh Sandhu conveyed that the university's vision and mission revolve around nurturing young minds and equipping them with a comprehensive range of skills, attitudes, and values to prepare them for the future and lead the country in various fields.
Furthermore, Satnam Singh Sandhu stated that the university has performed exceptionally well in areas such as employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, and academic reputation.
He attributed this success to the continuous efforts of their students and faculty, who empower them to excel in every domain. He concluded by assuring that they are determined to sustain this momentum and achieve even greater accomplishments in the upcoming years.
