With a number of multinational companies opting for new technologies due to changes in the working environment during the Coronavirus pandemic, several Institutions and Universities have also started to redesign their academic syllabus and structure accordingly to help their students become industry-ready professionals.
Taking a lead in this field, Chandigarh University has introduced 20 new futuristic Industry-driven programmes.These courses will be offered from the 2021-22 academic session by the university. These 20 courses are in the field of Management, Engineering, Computer Applications, Humanities, Sciences and Para-medical.
Briefing about these newly introduced courses, DR SS Sehgal, Registrar, Chandigarh University said, "Out of the 20 new courses,10 are Undergraduate programmes while 10 are Postgraduate one's. In the field of Engineering, B.E programmes are being introduced in Computer Science Engineering with specialisations in the emerging fields of Blockchain Technology and Development & operations (DevOps) while Master's programs are introduced in Electrical and Civil Engineering with specialisations in fields of Electrical Vehicles and Health Safety & Environment respectively."

Both Blockchain and DevOps are rapidly emerging technologies and are used in a wide manner to develop IT solutions by companies in the Energy,Insurance, Financial & Banking, Healthcare, Supply Chain, Real Estate and Travel sectors. It has been estimated that around 97 million jobs will be created by 2025 in the companies which are opting for the new technologies.
In the management field, CU has launched BBA programs in Digital Marketing and Business Analytics as both of them are emerging fields offering several job options in industries. Except these, MBA program in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, BCA program with specialisation in Augmented Reality and Virtual Release and MCA program with specialisations in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and Cloud Computing & Development Operations has also been introduced.
"Chandigarh University has been famous in introducing job oriented courses which fulfill the industry requirements. The dynamics of industries are changing fast and jobs with new skill-sets are replacing existing profiles. Both the students and Academic sector have to upgrade themselves as per the changing work environment and plan their future course of action accordingly,"said Satnam Singh Sandhu,Chancellor,Chandigarh University.
