Chandigarh University recently hosted the Global Education Summit 2023, where prominent international figures examined how India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, has amplified its global influence over the past nine years.
New Delhi: Chandigarh University hosted the Global Education Summit 2023 under the theme 'India: Voice of Global South.' In this event, esteemed international figures engaged in discussions about how India's global stature has evolved during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's nine-year leadership.
At the Chandigarh University summit, academic leaders from more than 40 prestigious universities expressed that "India has become a strong advocate for the Global South, addressing critical concerns and challenges that impact developing nations in Asia, Africa, and Latin America."
The NID Foundation, in collaboration with Chandigarh University (CU), hosted the international conference.
Prominent academic figures representing G20 nations commended India's impactful G20 presidency, recognizing it as a pivotal moment when the country played a significant role in shaping numerous global matters. They also praised Prime Minister Modi's initiatives to secure a permanent seat for the African Union within the G20.

Through the remarkable success of the G20 summit, India took on the role of shaping the global agenda, promoting unity with the mantra of 'One Earth, One Family, One Future,'" emphasized the academic leaders.
Professor Rachael Jesika Singh, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Limpopo in South Africa, expressed her gratitude for her association with India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Chandigarh University.
India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, is significantly contributing to global affairs, especially within the Global South. His stewardship of India's G20 Presidency has been instrumental in bridging the gap between developed and developing nations by addressing their concerns and issues, Singh added.
She remarked that Prime Minister Modi has emerged as a prominent leader and a powerful advocate for the Global South, as evident during the G20 Summit.
Highlighting the relevance of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), she noted that the academic leaders today from universities and higher education institutions worldwide are discussing the SDGs. To achieve these goals, they must collectively address hunger, poverty, and climate change, uniting as One Family, One World, One Future. It's essential to listen to the Female Voice and promote women-led development and female leadership.
Professor Nanda Bahadur Singh, the Vice-Chancellor of Mid-West University Surkhet in Nepal, added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not only the leader of India but also a leader for nations worldwide, particularly as a prominent figure for the Global South.
NID Foundation Chief Patron Satnam Singh Sandhu said that India’s momentous G-20 presidency under the leadership of PM Modi has “reshaped the global order”.
PM Modi has conveyed a resounding message of 'One Earth, One Family, One Future' to tackle critical global challenges, including the climate crisis, environmental preservation, and poverty, he noted. Through the G20 consensus by over 126 nations worldwide, PM Modi has risen as a global protagonist, he added.
Furthermore, he pointed out that Prime Minister Modi's efforts extended beyond India's borders, fostering a brighter future for both the country and its citizens while contributing to peace, inclusive development in the developing world, and a more promising future for humanity, solidifying his status as a 'Global Statesman.'
Throughout the G20 presidency, India stepped into the role of advocating for the Global South, shedding light on the challenges faced by developing nations, Sandhu explained.
Due to PM Modi's unwavering dedication, the African Union has secured a permanent seat at the G20 table, which now represents approximately 85 percent of global GDP, more than 75 percent of global trade, and roughly two-thirds of the world's population, he said.
Yhing Sawheny, Deputy Director of International Affairs at SIAM University Thailand, praised PM Modi for his visionary leadership skills and referred to him as a prominent global leader whom we all admire.
She said that PM Modi serves as a remarkable global role model who has dedicated significant efforts to improve the uu, . She added that through the G-20 summit, he outlined a blueprint to the world, illustrating how global peace and prosperity could be attained.
Dr. Nakayama Tomokazu, a Professor from Japan, explained that the advantages of such gatherings include the opportunity to learn from other delegates and simultaneously explore potential university partnerships.
Professor Sibrandes Poppema, the President of Sunway University, Malaysia, expressed that PM Modi's leadership during India's successful G-20 presidency demonstrates that Asia can assume a leadership role in a world where Western dominance is coming to an end.
He added that PM Modi championed multilateralism, emphasizing that global affairs should not be monopolized by one or two dominant powers.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Founder and Chairman of Daffodil International University, Bangladesh, lauded the vision of India, PM Narendra Modi, and the G20, focusing on the need to establish a platform contributing to society.
He commended India for embodying professionalism and respect for others, highlighting the strong devotion of Indians to their homeland. Dr. Khan added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is deeply committed to the country's progress and economic development.
