Daksha PU College

Being the Principal of Daksha PU College, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

My leadership philosophy is quite simple: you always need to understand and accept the perspective of students and team up with the members with whom you’re working. I believe that if you take the team with you, then you will achieve success altogether. More importantly, I am not a person who enforces the rule; rather, I always follow the rule and make others respect and go with the rule.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

I follow man-management tactics. You need to manage the man first; that will help you understand every one. Being an English teacher, I am available for every set of classrooms, be it science, commerce, or any other department. So, I am more involved with students, and that gave me an advantage because I got much more involved with the students, which helped me develop a bond with them. So I’m more like a student-teacher. Student-teacher: Like always, when you get into the institution, the principal's door is always shut, and nobody will have direct access to the principal. As a principal, I want my door to always be open for my students. My cabin should be available to anyone. Being a principal, you should be the person who gets involved with the team, and that helps you overcome all of the hurdles.

In the PU board result, we have a 100% result.

Even being an English teacher makes me have a good connection with faculty members because English is going to be everybody’s cup of tea, so at some point, every other faculty member will be here to seek any sort of assistance whenever they find it difficult.

What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department or how does your department prepare students for Higher education?

We used to give the students projects and assignments. We always give them practical exposure to make them employable and industry-ready.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to the real-world challenges?

The college always supports students in all sorts of activities. Be it sports, cultural, debate competition, interclass competition, intercollegiate competition, dance, music, etc.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

More importantly, they need to trust and respect themselves. That makes them believe in themselves.

What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute? which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd.

Our latest program is BCA. Also, we will conduct an Alumni meetup program for all of our students. We want our emerging students to get to know how different what they have studied is from what they are now exposed to back at their workstations. It will help them get to know the knowledge practically. We have plans to start kindergarten and a higher primary school on our campus.

What are the best practices in the course you’re offering?

We have commerce students and science students, so at this point, as commerce students, we have plenty of courses that give them hands-on experience. We are helping them gain a better understanding of accounts and also helping them clear all their intermediate CA and CS courses. We also train students with Tally courses.

How did you train yourself to deliver this program to the students?

I used to keep up with the latest trends. The module, which is quite attractive from the outside, is something I need to seek out first and make my students learn that will help them by the time they move out of campus. Also, we will have the FDP program, or Faculty Development Program, a couple of times a year. We’ll have outsiders, experts, and people from different parts of the world here on campus to train our teachers.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University and the students are?

Mysore University has an attraction, and we need to offer students the most suitable courses. We want to upgrade our strategy and courses along with the teaching pedagogy. The Students need to be kept very close to the technology as it will aid them in various working areas.

What do you think should be the college’s top priority over the next 10 years?

Our top priority is communication and body language.

When you first came to Daksha PU College, what was your vision for the university? Has it evolved over time, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

Back in the year 2017, the college strength was somewhere around 180–200, but now the strength has increased to 1000. We are teaching 1,000. Because students are also happy with the way of teaching.

What do you see as Daksha PU Colleges greatest strengths?

So, Daksha is going to be the best because we have a residential facility. We have separate hostels for boys and girls on campus. Apart from this, For 2-3 years we have made a remarkable name in sports, sports activities, various cultural festivals, and management festivals. We do encourage our students to participate in those. It's not like we only send them; we give them proper guidance and support. The other best thing about Daksha is that the whole institution is based on three simple modules: Teach them, Identify the problems, and tackle problems.

We support every type of student; we don't close the gate for students, not up to the mark in academics.

Even if they lie around 35% or 40% in their academic excellence, we want to ensure that by the time they graduate, they have transformed themselves into good, responsible individuals. Teaching good students is quite easy, but making an average student good is challenging.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

At the earliest, know your flaws and weaknesses. So the foundation should be appropriate. Even if you want to build your career by starting with 0, you need to understand that you are at level 0. Knowing your levels and planning your levels help anybody achieve whatever they want to do. So, start from scratch, build on that, and to build on that, you should know your strengths and weaknesses, improvise your strengths, avoid your weaknesses, and that will help you accomplish any sort of thing. The last thing is self-belief, which is important.
