Ashoka Women's Engineering College

For how long have you been with Ashoka Oman's Engineering College and what do you think about your roles and responsibilities?

I have been working at Ashoka Women's Engineering College since March 2021. I handle various responsibilities in my role. I started as an assistant professor in the MBA department and I was initially handling the training and placement responsibility for the institution. Subsequently, I was promoted to HOD of MBA department and then to Head of Training and Placement in November 2022. Overall, I have been with this institution for about two and a half years now. In terms of my roles and responsibilities, my role is a pivotal one because placements are important for students for them to get empowered. The more students we place, the more jobs we get, and the more quality companies we can bring in … is good for our students. It is the outcome of the four years of education that we offer—the outcome of the skills that we impart to our students in the four years time.

How much of a team do you have in placement and how they are working?

We have around ten people in our department and we have training and placement coordinators from different departments. In all the departments, we have a TNP coordinator who will be the one-point contact for the respective department’s students with regard to training and placement. We also have colleagues who are specifically taking care of assessment tools, taking care of industry institute relationships. Additionally, some colleagues are also tasked with working on internships, which brings the team count to ten.
