Dr. Surendra has 15 years of experience, during which he generated internship opportunities and helped develop the skill development department at Anantha Lakshmi Institute of Technology and Sciences.

You have held key positions at educational institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

I am Dr. M. Surendranaidu, working as a director for skill development and placements. Earlier, I had 12 years of experience in the IT industry. When I was in the IT industry, I used to take part in interviews with freshmen and experienced individuals. With that knowledge, I thought of coming to the educational institute. I have industry experience with different kinds of strategies to make all the students industry-ready candidates. I realised I could do wonders in education, especially for my native place, if I worked at a college. I can help develop the right skill set that is required for the industry to benefit rural area students so that they get more jobs. That is why I came into the education field.


Being director of Anantalakshmi College what is your philosophy of leadership and how would you describe your leadership style?

When I was in the industry, I used to work as a leader for a team. Any person who wants to become a leader should have good leadership skills, good administration skills and team management skills. I have good knowledge of all these aspects. That is why I am leading the team and all the faculty members, building strategies and implementing them for the betterment of the students at this institute. This is my leadership style, working together towards one goal.


How does the curriculum of Anantalakshmi College ensures the best practice for the students? 

In terms of our syllabus, we are affiliated with JNTU Anantapuram. We need to follow the JNTU prescribed syllabus. Beyond the syllabus, as per the industry standards, whatever the industry is looking for, the skill set we are implementing through short-term and value-added courses. We are also able to arrange industry expert visits to provide training for the students.

Any insights into how your college could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

As Anantapur is a broad area and a rural area, we require government fee reimbursement for all the students who are coming to our college. We also have very good placements and we have a good environment for the students to become entrepreneurs. Due to all these things, all the students are coming and joining our college and we are getting 100% admissions.


What do you think your roles and responsibilities towards the college and the students are?

My roles and responsibilities are varied. I need to make sure that the system is running smoothly, meaning all the staff members are doing their duties perfectly. I also make sure that students are working hard for which we need to motivate them. We need to make them industry-ready candidates. In all of these aspects, I monitor all functions, infrastructure and staff, irrespective of branches. We look into all of these aspects and develop the college to reach the next level.


What would you like people to know about your college they may not know?

We have good teachers, many of whom have doctorates, modern infrastructure and an excellent placement record. We provide the right environment for students to develop the skills to become entrepreneurs. Moreover, we have good transportation facilities for the comfort of the students. I would want people to know about these. Anyone can visit us and learn about all of these things.
