New Delhi: BITS Pilani has introduced the School of Interdisciplinary Research and Entrepreneurship (SIRE), an online platform dedicated to fostering research and innovation, according to a recent announcement by the institution.
SIRE aims to establish a unique environment where individuals from diverse academic backgrounds collaborate to address challenging problems through teamwork and a blend of various research methodologies. SIRE is set to offer a range of interdisciplinary PhD programs, with the PhD DRIVE program being a notable inclusion.
Sanket Goel, the Dean of Research and Innovation (Institute-wide) and Professor at BITS Pilani Hyderabad emphasized that SIRE represents a significant stride toward a future marked by novel ideas and collaborative initiatives. He highlighted that SIRE aligns with BITS Pilani's dedication to providing opportunities for advanced collaborative research.
Prof. Hitesh Datt Mathur expressed that this initiative represents an exciting frontier in cultivating partnerships that lead to research and entrepreneurship in multidisciplinary domains, which is crucial for the evolving research and development landscape. In its initial phase, SIRE is set to welcome approximately a hundred scholars into its cohort, signalling a promising start for the program.
Simultaneously, SIRE is gearing up to develop various master's and minor programs, ensuring alignment with the interdisciplinary nature of the School. This expansion showcases SIRE's commitment to providing a comprehensive educational experience encompassing various disciplines and research areas.
The application deadline for those aspiring to be part of the PhD DRIVE program is February 15. This marks an important date for individuals eager to contribute to the dynamic and collaborative research environment that SIRE aims to cultivate. As the School of Interdisciplinary Research and Entrepreneurship takes its first steps, it promises to become a hub for innovative thinking, foster partnerships, and advance research in a diverse and collaborative setting.
