New Delhi: BITS Pilani held its convocation ceremony in which it awarded 1372 candidates. Out of these students, 1053 students were awarded with their first degrees, 254 of the total received their higher degree and 65 students received PhD degrees.

Out of 1372 students who received degrees at BITS Pilani, three students who secured gold, silver and bronze medals. Durba Satpathi, Aditya Chopra, Balabhadra Krishna Chaitanya, respectively for their outstanding performance in academics. 

The students were awarded by Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, director-general CSIR, in the presence of other members like Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, the Vice-Chancellor of BITS Pilani, staff, and graduating students along with their parents and faculties.

According to a recent press release, the Director General of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Dr. N Kalaiselvi, who was also the chief guest of the ceremony, Expressing his views on this Convocation ceremony, has advised the students to have belief in their inner strength and use their intellectual powers to work hard and make the nation globally powerful.

Dr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chancellor of BITS Pilani further advised the students to follow four principles of leadership which includes taking a long view, fostering natural curiosity, building a band of diverse and talented co-traveler, and leading with inner conviction. The Vice-chancellor, Prof. V Ramgopal Rao, and Director, Prof. G. Sundar along with faculty members and students also attended the convocation.

Professor Rao told the students to always stay curious like children and to be dedicated and honest. Dr. Kalaiselvi talked about how important science and technology are in India right now and told the students who are finishing their studies to try to make India strong in the world.
