Konstanz University of Applied Science, Germany is a modern technical university, offering interdisciplinary programs in Engineering, Science, Management, Technology, and Legal Studies. The university offers 19 Bachelor and 17 Master degree courses in 20 technical and professional fields. All the courses are offered in the German language (except International programs).

  • International students can apply for both full-time degree courses and exchange programs at the university.
  • The application deadline for selected bachelor programs for winter semester 2019/20 has been extended until 30th September 2019.

Konstanz University of Applied Science Application Deadline

Deadline for bachelors and masters programs offered at Konstanz University of Applied Science are as follows:

Deadline for Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor's in Communication Design for Summer semester is November 15 and winter semester is May 15.

Language Proficiency Requirement for International Students

German Proficiency Requirement for programs offered in German:

  • The applicants eligible for direct admission should have passed TestDAF (4.0) or DSH-2 for German language proficiency.
  • The applicant who has qualified any of these tests should validate the same with StudienKolleg, along with the diploma certificates.
  • The applicant without any of the above qualification should undertake a qualification examination conducted by StudienKolleg to prove their language proficiency.

The University also accepts:

  • Language diploma of the Conference of Ministers of Education Level II
  • German language diploma, which is awarded by the Goethe-Institute on behalf of the University of Munich
  • Central advanced examination of the Goethe-Institute (ZOP)
  • C2-certificate of the Goethe-Institute
  • Assessment exam in German at one of the Studienkollegs.
  • German test PNDS.
  • School leaving certificate of a German school abroad with predominantly German language courses.
  • Attendance of a school including grade 9, where all subjects were taught in German.

English Proficiency Requirement for programs taught in English:

Non-EU/EEA students applying for international programs should have qualified minimum B2 level in the English language.

Visa Requirements for International Students

The applicant should apply for the German residence permit for studying, at the earliest, with the following documents.

  • Certification of recognition from the university or Invitation letter from the StudienKolleg.
  • Proof of financial credentials.
  • Proof of German proficiency skills.
  • Health insurance policy.

Upon approval, the applicant should register the same with the local registration office and the immigration office within 8 days of arriving in Germany.

Konstanz University of Applied Science Undergraduate Admission

Application for a Bachelor's degree in Communication Design or for a higher semester in a Bachelor's degree program must be submitted directly to the university’s portal. For other programs, students are required to submit an application first to hochschulstart.de.

Konstanz University of Applied Science Graduate Admission

Students applying for graduate admission at Konstanz University of Applied Science must have completed the qualifying Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum 2.5-grade points. The admission process includes grade assessment and a personal interview. Candidates with work experience are given bonus points in the selection process.

Work experience in an architectural office.
Master of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering Bachelors in Civil Engineering or Environmental or related fields.
International Project Engineering Bachelors in industrial engineering or related fields; 2.5 or above grade points
Master of Legal Management Bachelors in business law or related field; Overall grade of 2.9 or better.
Master of Computer Science Bachelors in Computer science, Business informatics or related fields
Overall grade of 2.4 or above; 60 ECTS in Computer science.

Admission Requirement for Exchange Students

The applicants from 51 partner universities in 26 countries are accepted for admission through an exchange program.

  • The applicant will be admitted to the fourth semester.
  • The selection process is conducted in the home university.
  • The selection is based on grades in qualifying exams, WDT test, and personal interview.
  • The applicant should attend the preliminary course conducted by the university, before admission.

International applicants should contact the Centre for International Students (Studienkolleg Konstanz), before applying with the university to validate their German Language Skills and School Diplomas. The candidate should use the validation letter from Centre for International Students to apply for courses at the University.

Applicants who have completed (non-German citizens) their qualifying examinations from a German University or educational system can apply directly to the university without contacting the Studienkonstanz, but the applicant has to qualify German language skill TestDAF or DSH to be eligible for admission.
