NExT exam pattern 2024 provides for the exam to be conducted in two steps- NExT Step 1 and NExT Step 2. NExT Step 1 paper will be a theoretical computer-based test in which a total of 540 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) will be asked. NExT step 1 paper will comprise six papers- Medicine and allied disciplines, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Surgery and allied disciplines, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, and Otorhinolaryngology.
On the other hand, NExT Step 2 will be a Clinical/ Practical and Viva-based exam comprised of seven clinical disciplines/ subjects- Medicine and allied subjects, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Surgery and allied subjects, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, and Orthopaedics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR). NExT Step 2 exam will aim at evaluating clinical/ practical skills, clinical decision-making, and communication skills.
NExT for MBBS will be held in two sessions- May and November. Those who will clear the NExT Step 1 will be eligible for the internship program. To qualify for NeXT paper 1, aspirants need to score a minimum of 50% of the marks. There is no negative marking and limitation on the number of attempts in the NExT exam.
The score of NExT Step 1 will be valid for 2 years to appear for the NExT Step 2 practical exam.

NExT Exam Pattern 2024: Question Distribution and Duration
NExT 2024 exam pattern (test 1) will be divided into three parts. Out of the 540 questions, 60%-70% will be focused on analytical and testing problem-solving skills, 20-30% on comprehension and analysis, and the remaining 5-15% will be focused on recall questions. NExT Exam Pattern 2024: Passing Marks
To qualify for the NExT 2024 exam, aspirants need to possess the minimum cut off marks. The marks in NExT 1 will be calculated as whole numbers which will provide the Raw Scores with proper decimals and eventually similar Percentages (marks out of a maximum of 100) with proper decimals may be calculated if needed.
NExT Step 2 Exam results will be announced as only Pass / Fail on the basis of the acquisition of proper competence that is being assessed.
