MAH B.Ed CET 2024 ELCT Exam Pattern

MAH B.Ed CET 2024 Section-wise Important Topics

Candidates need to be aware of the subjects and sections involved in the examination and what each section is designed to test in the candidates. This will help candidates to tackle each section with the right approach at the time of preparation.

The three constituent sections are:

• Mental Ability
• General Awareness
• Teacher Aptitude

The aspects of candidates that each of these sections test and the topics included in each of them as syllabus are discussed below.

Mental Ability (40% of Total Weightage)

The Mental Ability Section is designed to test the reasoning abilities of candidates. It also determines the accuracy and the speed in logical reasoning of candidates. The questions are framed in a verbal or nonverbal form.

The topics from which questions will be framed for this section include

• Series
• Syllogism
• Coding-Decoding
• Relationships
• Analogies
• Classification
• Problems on dice

General Awareness (30% of Total Weightage)

This section tests candidates’ knowledge regarding current local, national, and international affairs.

Apart from current affairs, candidates are tested on a wide range of topics. These topics are

• Past Events
• Current Affairs and Science & Technology
• History
• Geography
• Civics
• Political Science
• Literature and Education

Teacher Aptitude (30% of Total Weightage)

This section determines candidates’ capabilities of becoming a teacher. It shall include:

• Keenness to update existing knowledge
• Leadership qualities
• Awareness about changes in society and education
• Communication and professional commitment

Note: For candidates seeking admission into an English Medium College of Education, then English Language Content Test (ELCT) is a must.

MAH B.Ed ELCT 2024 Section-wise Important Topics

MAH B.Ed ELCT is an online computer-based test. This 1-hour exam is designed to test the candidates in the various aspects surrounding the English Language. These include comprehension skills, grammar and vocabulary knowledge, sentence formation, knowledge of idioms and proverbs amongst other things.

As already seen, the ELCT is a 1-hour examination comprising seven sections. The 7 constituent sections are:

• Reading Comprehension
• Vocabulary Focus
• Grammar Focus
• Sentence Formation
• Phonetics
• Verbal Idioms and Proverbs
• Figures of Speech

The aspects of candidates that each of these sections test and the topics included in each of them as syllabus are discussed below.

Reading Comprehension (Total Weightage 40%)

This section tests the candidate's understanding and comprehension skills of any given scenario. The topics or the scenarios which test the comprehension skills are represented as one of the following:

• Prose
• Picture
• Poetry
• Dialogue

Vocabulary Focus (Total Weightage 10%)

This section aims to determine the command candidates have over vocabulary. Candidates are tested in their knowledge of words with similar meanings, similar pronunciation, opposites, and a comparison of shades of meanings. The primary topics include:

• Spellings
• Antonyms
• Synonyms
• Homonyms

Grammar Focus (Total Weightage 16%)

This section is designed to test candidates in their overall sense of grammar and application of the same in the given context. The 5 major topics included in this are:

• Punctuation
• Articles
• Prepositions
• Conjunctions
• Degree of adjectives

Sentence Formation (Total Weightage 14%)

This section comprises questions that test the candidates’ skills in rearranging a given sentence according to need, spotting the error, and moving from one type of sentence to another. The three major areas include:

• Affirmative-Negative-Interrogative-Assertive-Exclamatory
• Jumbled Sentences
• Identifying Errors in Sentences

Phonetics (Total Weightage 6%)

The section is designed to test the grip candidates have over the spoken language. Topics include:

• Accent
• Phonetic Transcription
• Intonation Pattern

Verbal Idioms and Proverbs (Total Weightage 10%)

This section primarily tests if candidates can differentiate to a satisfactory degree, the surface meaning and the inner meaning of the various idioms and proverbs. This section includes Verbal Idioms and Proverbs as a part of its syllabus.

Figures of Speech (Total Weightage 4%)

This section judges the candidates’ ability to recognize the figure of speech from the given context. Questions will be framed from the following topics.

• Simile
• Metaphor
• Climax
• Hyperbole
• Alliteration
• Repetition
• Anti-Climax

• Candidates attempting MAH B.Ed CET 2024 must be thoroughly aware of the syllabus and exam pattern of the exam.
• Candidates should prepare a study timetable to make sure that they don't leave important topics to the last minute.

MAH B.Ed CET 2024 Exam Guidelines

Here are some important guidelines for MAH B.Ed CET 2024:

1. MAH B.Ed CET and the ELCT are both online computer-based tests.
2. Aspirants can view the questions along with 4 choices, out of which only 1 is correct. Candidates must click on their most appropriate answer using the mouse.
3. To the right of the screen, the status of the question can be seen as one of the following.

• You have not visited the question yet
• You have not answered the question yet
• You have answered the question
• You have not answered the question, but marked the question for review
• You have answered the question, but marked it for review

4. The question number can be clicked to go to the question bearing that number. Candidates can then select their response, followed by choosing either ‘Save and Next’ or ‘Mark for Review and Next’.
5. ‘Mark for Review’ notifies candidates that they have chosen to come back and review the question at a later time.
6.  In case the response needs to be changed, candidates can deselect their first response by clicking on the ‘Clear Response’ button. They can then choose the new response and use one of the above options (Save and next or Mark for review and next) to save their answer and move on to the next question.
7. ‘Mark for Review’ just acts as a reminder. If an answer is already chosen and candidates do not come back to the question marked for review before the time is over, the answer initially chosen will be considered as final.
8. Clicking on the ‘Save and Next’ button for the last question of a section directs candidates to the first question of the next section. Candidates can alternate between sections and questions within the examination duration.
9. Candidates can view the time left on the top right corner of the screen. Once the time is up, the test is automatically submitted. Candidates cannot ‘Finally Submit’ the test before the allotted time is over.
10. Candidates are strictly advised against using keyboards in front of their systems during the entire duration of MAH B.Ed CET 2024.
