The exam pattern of the AILET has been changed by the National Law University, Delhi. Now the exam has only three sections namely Logical Reasoning, English Language and Current Affairs & GK. The current pattern does not include the Elementary Mathematics and Legal Aptitude sections. The exam duration has also been increased from 90 minutes to 120 minutes. A total of 150 questions will be asked from three sections for B.A. LLB and 100 questions for LLM. The exam will be conducted on December 8, 2024, from 2 PM to 4 PM. Candidates are advised to know the detailed exam pattern before applying.

How much time will I be given to complete the AILET 2025 exam?

The exam pattern is different for B.A. LLB, LLM and PhD courses. There will be 150 questions asked in the question paper and you will get 120 minutes to complete your exam. In LLM a total of 100 questions will be asked and 120 minutes will be given to you to complete your paper. 100 questions will be asked in the PhD paper and you will have to complete the paper within 1 hour 30 minutes.

AILET Marking Scheme

What will be the marking scheme in the AILET 2025?

The detailed marking scheme of different courses is given below.

AILET Exam Pattern

What will be the exam pattern of the AILET 2025 exam?

There will be three sections in the exam namely English Language, Current Affairs & General Knowledge and Logical Reasoning. Legal principles may be used in the logical reasoning section to test logical aptitude but the examination will not require legal knowledge or technical understanding. 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) will be asked from these sections. In LLM 100 MCQs will be asked from different branches of Law. There will be sections A and B in the PhD program. A total of 100 MCQs will be asked in PhD exams. 50 questions will be asked from the subject of Research Methodology and the remaining 50 questions will be asked from different branches of Law for PhD in Law course. For PhD in Social Sciences, the remaining 50 MCQs will be asked from different branches of Social Sciences. The exam will be conducted offline and you have to give your responses in the OMR sheet.

AILET B.A. LLB Preparation

How to prepare for B.A. LLB courses to take admission in NLU Delhi through AILET?

The Logical Reasoning part has the maximum weightage as 70 questions will be asked from that section. Therefore, you need to prepare for all the important topics in LR. The LR includes critical & analytical reasoning and the analytical includes both verbal and nonverbal reasoning. In Analytical Reasoning, you need to focus on Syllogism, Number Series, Venn Diagram, blood relations, Directions and Coding-decodingIn. Every day you need to practise at least 50 questions from analytical reasoning with a time limit of 30 minutes. In critical reasoning, you must focus on paragraph-based questions from the LSAT exam PYQs of the AILET exam. You can practise from R.S Aggarwal and Logical Reasoning by MK Pandey. You can practice passages from Arun Sharma’s CAT book as you will know high-frequency words from this book. You can use Wren N Martin for vocabulary. Write words in your copy and revise them daily to increase vocabulary. For Pratiyogita Darpan, GKToday, monthly magazines are good sources for GK and CA. You need to revise daily to recall the topics. Only one liner questions are asked in this exam based on History, Geography, Economics, Environment, General Science, Books & Authors, awards & achievements etc.


AILET LLM Preparation

How to prepare for LLM courses for the AILET 2025 exam?

To prepare for LLM you need to know the most important topics in LLM. Constitutional Law, Criminal Laws, Jurisprudence and Contract acts are the most important topics and most questions are asked about these topics. You need to cover two topics in a day and give 3 hours to these topics from which you can give 2 hours for major topics like Constitutional Laws and 1 hour for minor topics like Laws of torts. Law of Torts, Law of Contract etc are the easy topics. Therefore, you need to take one major and one minor topic each day. You need to cover fundamentals of laws, legal updates, recent case laws, legal GK and PYQs. You can practise questions from A.K Jain's LLM Guide, Singhal’s Guide on LLM, and Easter Book Company Guides on Different Subjects.

Ques. Is AILET tougher than the CLAT exam?

Ans. The major difference between CLAT and AILET is that AILET does not have Quantitative or Mathematics sections like CLAT. GK in CLAT is based on passages, whereas in AILET only general statement-based questions or one-liner questions are asked. AILET is considered tougher than CLAT but there is not much difference in the exam pattern.

Ans. Logical Reasoning has the maximum weightage in this exam as 70 questions out of 150 are asked from this section alone. To crack this exam you need to prepare this section properly.
