MTech Energy System Engineering deals with planning the design and choosing the apparatus and carrying out the tests in the laboratory to ensure optimum energy use. They also devise methods to adapt them for the industrial processes.

The duration of M.tech Energy System Engineering is two years. MTech Energy System Engineering eligibility B.E or B.Tech in the relevant stream or an equivalent bachelor degree with at least 60% marks from a university recognized by UGC.

Many reputed colleges like IIT-Bombay offer this course. Some colleges allow admission on the basis of a merit list while others have entrance tests. The fee on average ranges from INR 12,500 to INR 1,98,750.

Some of the topics included are:

  • The students learn about the current energy scenario and forms of energy.
  • They understand the concept of thermal power generation, hydropower generation and the like.
  • They are acquainted with the idea of green building and the non-traditional methods of generating power.
  • He learns to develop new products at the minimum cost with maximum efficiency.
  • They also learn to identify machines that are not working properly and record the threat level and report to their seniors.

For admission to a college, counselling is done according to the state. Most colleges give admission on the basis of GATE score. But some colleges have their own entrance exams. If an entrance exam is held for admission in the college, then the number a student gets in it will determine whether or not he or she will be able to get admission to a college of their choice.

Sometimes some elite colleges also conduct a personal interview. Thus the candidate has to clear both the entrance test and the interview to be able to get admission to reputed colleges.

Campus Life:

The college has a chota canteen. Around 3'x3' small one. Around 20 members can sit at a time. Here only snacks are available. Mainly north Indian style. It's ok to survive. No Breakfast or Lunch is available. Need a lot of improvements. Social life is good as we make classmates and friends. No Clubs are available. Infrastructure is also ok kind. The library is good. Some good books are available. And the library faculty is really friendly. No Sports as there is no ground area available. No extra-curricular activity from College. But students can plan and make it. Have fun :)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is okay kind. Because anyhow it is not really upgraded to the current technologies which the companies are using currently. The syllabus covers 1990 to 2000 technology topics. But anyway it gives the basic idea of the concepts which are not that greatly useful for the career. Just read it, understand it, write it in the exam. Personally, I had started learning on my own to tackle the job hunt.

Campus Life:

All that a student desires is present in this campus. Although I missed a part of it due to the cursed year of corona . Libraries are very functional and efficient in their approach. The new Academic building is a treat for the eye for those looking for classroom amenities. Go and search on YouTube. The campus is about 400 acres in size so there are many open spaces for other amenities to be made although what is there is sufficient for all that a student can ask for.

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are very much available for all students. Includes mass recruiter as well as the other type. Those interested for position of SDE and all will be very much pleased to what the college placement has to offer. The core people are also very much satisfied in terms of what is available. The highest placement till now has gone upto 36L and the average is in double digit only.

Internships Opportunities:

I did internship twice, with FICCI and ICF. The opportunities provided by both of these giants in the energy sector is extremely praiseworthy. I was involved in live projects immediately after recruitment. My mentors were extremely humble and motivating. Moreover, the experience to work and deliver with finesses and quality gets inculcated in your system once you finish the internships. Extremely satisfied with the internships. Unfortunately, the university didn't find the internships like they hardly try for the placements, except on few occasions. But, individual faculties and alumnus put their efforts in for the students to provide internships with the giants of the energy sector.

Remarks:

Best private college in India to pursue Mtech in Energy Systems Engineering. Good infrastructure for masters. Faculties are average except few who are exceptional. No placements. Excellent alumni connection around the globe. Good for people who thrive to find their way out themselves through these alumni base. And exclusive for people who want to pursue doctorate after their Mtech.

Ques. Is it good to pursue an M.tech. in energy engineering at NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Shankar Pandey on 28 Mar 23

Ans. If you are a mechanical engineer, pursuing an M.Tech in Energy at NIT Trichy would be an excellent choice for you. The program is well-designed and provides in-depth knowledge about energy systems and sustainability. The course curriculum is mostly based on mechanical engineering principles, which makes it easier for mechanical engineers to understand and excel in the program. NIT Trichy M.Tech Energy placements are also good, with reputed companies visiting the campus for recruitment. As a mechanical engineer, you will have many opportunities to sit in various company placements and internships, which may lead to a job offer. However, if you are an electrical engineer, you may face some challenges during the course as it is mostly based on mechanical engineering principles. This may affect your understanding of the subject and affect your performance in the program. Additionally, for placements, companies may not prefer an energy engineer with an electrical engineering background. But, if you are interested in research and higher studies, pursuing M.Tech Energy at NIT Trichy is still a good option. The campus has a solar energy lab and equipment, which provides opportunities for research in the field of energy. For Chemical and Biotech engineers, NIT Trichy is a good place to pursue research if you are interested in the field. The campus has good research facilities and provides opportunities for research in the field of energy, sustainability, and biotechnology. However, there may not be many core placements for these disciplines. If you are a mechanical engineer or interested in research, pursuing M.Tech Energy at NIT Trichy can be a good option. However, if you are an electrical, chemical, or biotech engineer, you should carefully consider the challenges and opportunities of the program before making a decision.Read more

Ques. How is the energy systems engineering branch of IIT Bombay for an MTech?

● Top Answer By Parvez Khan on 20 Mar 23

Ans. Department of Energy Sciences at IIT Bombay is among the newest in comparison to Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering but its demand is increasing in a fast-paced manner. The reason is the shift in the demand from conventional to non-conventional forms of energy resources.  Faculty: The faculty is one of the best in the country. The HOD is a member of the Niti Aayog advisory board. Most professors and alumni have their own startups worth millions while some  Associate Professors who have joined recently are PhDs from MIT. Curriculum: The introduction of the department gives you a general picture of the course. You are required to complete 12 courses in these 4 semesters out of which 6 are electives. These 6 electives can be from almost any branch in IIT Bombay based on your personal choice.  Placements: The placements are pretty good and most students go for their own startups. The packages range around 11 LPA. Companies from a number of branches come for placements such as data analysts, core energy, energy consultancy, etc. MTech Energy Engineering Course Highlights Particulars  Statistics  Course Fee INR 50,000 - INR 2,59,000 Average Salary INR 3.75 LPA - INR 15 LPA Job Positions Energy Efficiency Engineer, Technical Resource Manager, Test & Balance Engineer, Lecturers/ Professors etc Top Recruiters  BHEL, Aditya Birla Group, Ezon Energy Solutions, Fission Labs, Accenture, M&M, Siemens, etcRead more
