Admission:

The admission procedure wasn't much hard. Due to various reasons, but basically because the course is fresh and seats aren't full, especially if you check the institution's website you will find that the number of students that increased four to eight after the academic year 2017- 2018, accordingly it is a positive factor to get education and progress along with the supervision of your tutors. I remember that I apploaded all the required documents right after the online application and the acceptance letter.Through the selection process I took an interview, where I was asked few questions like why am I interested in the course.....My application went further in process in order that my scores were high and showing interest, passion and willingness to study psychiatry in their institution.

College Events:

Due to the fact that we are specialised in psychiatry and psychology, we were obliged to get in touch with humans inside our faculty and outside. We always participate in vast events programmed for both students and teachers, such as seminars, conferences and workshops to boost our knowledge of human behaviour. True that statistics of students are less comparing it with other institutions, but the quality of education is much better than other places. If you only attend one of the faculty's events, you will observe how much they are professional and big.

This course was in demand so the placement ratio was up to the mark and much core field training was provided to the candidates. Also, the candidates have a training period under the experts who also suggested the organizations where the student can apply for the job. However, there are chances to get a job at the institute campus itself.

Admission:

In this public university, the admission was based on the previous graduate degree and NEET PG scores. However, there are only eight seats it was quite challenging to get the admission seat. Here, the procedure I followed was offline and submitted the required and relevant documents.

Fee Structure And Facilities:

The fees structure is really not feasible. The one who holds the burden of paying you fees and other expenses, knows how hard work they have done to make you successful. Now see the fees of my 3 years course is Rs 25,33,600 for first year and in the entire 3 years we have to pay Rs 63,60,800. The fee is very high but it is not only in our college but everywhere.

Faculty:

It is only because of the faculty that we were able to understand and grasp the concepts. They encourage us to spend more and more time in laboratories so that we can get more of practical knowledge. They have been a constant souce of guidance.

Ques. What should I prefer between AIIMS Delhi and NIMHANS for an MD in psychiatry?

● Top Answer By Muskan Shafi on 30 Mar 24

Ans. AIIMS Delhi and NIMHANS Bangalore are both prominent medical institutes, being ranked 1st and 4th, respectively in India in the medical category by NIRF 2023. Both the institutes are equally good for MD, however, for an MD in Psychiatry, NIMHANS is considered to be a better option than AIIMS Delhi.  One must prioritize the branch over the college in case of their degree, especially in medicine. One should look after the other aspects such as the course faculty, facilities provided for the course, and lastly the clinical experience and exposure. NIMHANS is renowned all over India for its excellence in Psychiatry and is one of the top institutions for mental health and neuroscience education. Since NIMHANS specializes in Neurosciences, it is claimed to have a stronger focus and approach towards specialized learning and training in Psychiatry than AIIMS Delhi.  Through AIIMS Delhi is the most popular choice for every medical aspirant, but for MD in Psychiatry is indeed the best option given the knowledge, skills, and clinical experience it has to share for courses in Mental Health. Admission to MD in Psychiatry at both AIIMS Delhi and NIMHANS is based on the score in INI CET.Read more

Ques. How is the psychiatry MD course at NIMHANS? What is the stipend and fee structure?

● Top Answer By Adrita Das, on 02 Nov 21

Ans. MD course at NIMHANS is really good. It was the first institute in India opened for training in psychiatry. This gets carried over in the degree you obtain.  Primary training will be given in Adult Psychiatry in this course. This will also include a few months of training in child and adolescent psychiatry, addiction medicine, psychology, etc.  You will witness an astonishing amount of the variety of patients. You can get to see phenomenology of nearly all kinds that are read during the PG preparation.  Emphasis is put on treatment, and not just pharmacotherapy, but a multi-disciplinary approach.  This helps students learn not only psychopathology but various aspects of social dynamics as well.  There are plenty of research opportunities for interested students.  If you have a genuine interest in psychiatry should consider this course. It will be time-consuming and hectic as it requires dedication and hard work.  The stipend is currently around INR 66,000, this should increase with the implementation of the 7th pay commission. The fee is INR 73,420.Read more

Ques. What are the pros and cons of doing an MD in psychiatry at KGMU or CIP in Ranchi?

● Top Answer By Aditi Roy on 25 Sept 23

Ans. I can shed some light on the Psychiatry department of CIP Ranchi. I don’t have much information about KGMU. But as far as CIP Ranchi is considered, the only academic pro is its enormous patient load. This offers a great exposure. Other than that, you’ll meet good peers and seniors. The biggest con, on the other hand, is the anti research attitude. People aren’t encouraged towards research. Only after you start publishing papers, do others invite you to their work.  But also, a lot has changed at CIP Ranchi in the past years. So I recommend you approach some seniors from both the colleges before arriving at a decision.Read more
