Admission to this course in various MD Dermatology colleges is based on a national level entrance examination-  National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG-  which is a single window entrance examination to MD/MS/PG diploma courses in medicine in India. Candidates who have secured the qualifying percentile for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) are eligible.

NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (NEET) PG – NEET PG is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), for admission to MS/MD and PG Diploma courses in India in Medical/ Dental Colleges running with the approval of the Medical Council of India/ Dental Council of India. The exam fee for NEET-PG is INR 3,750 for general candidates and INR 2,750 for SC/ST/PWD/PH candidates. The examination is a computer based test 300 multiple choice questions exam delivered on computer based platform (CBT). The syllabus for the exam comprises of subjects/knowledge areas as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by Medical Council of India. The NEET PG is conducted in the month of December and the result is declared in January. Online registration begins in September and is open until October.

What is the difference between MD and MS?

Both these post graduate degrees are pursued only after an MBBS. The only difference is that MS (Master of Surgery) is a postgraduate degree in general surgery while MD is a postgraduate degree in general medicine. A candidate receives the MD degree after a successful completion of 3 years of study including both theoretical and practical aspects, in a pre-clinical or clinical subject of a non-surgical nature (e.g. Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Neurology and Anaesthesiology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gynaecology, Internal medicine, Paediatric, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Radio-Diagnosis, Pathology), whereas the candidate receives a MS degree in a clinical subject of a surgical nature (e.g. Paediatric surgery, Plastic surgery, Cardio-thoracic surgery, Urology, Cardiac surgery, Cosmetic surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Orthopaedics).

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose dermatology because it has a limited syllabus. You can go into the depth of subject but it is still less hectic than other subjects and hence gives me less stress and more time to enjoy. Bhavishya Ma'am is my favourite.

College Events:

Campus is filled with laughing faces of young medicos. You will find people digging themselves deep into books but enjoying as well. We work on the motto of work hard and party harder. Campus is well maintained and beautiful.

Course is for 3 years if you donot fail in final exams. We read Hapleys book mainly. Thesis is based on our interest in a particular disorder. Seniors are really helpful It would have been so difficult to adapt without seniors guiding and helpung us at every possible steo.

I chose UCMS college as it is DELHI and one of the best. I like dermatology as it deals with diseases of skin. I thought it would be only about scabies and pediculosis but seems there is a lot more to this subject. It is a beautiful subject

I graduated MBBS with good grades. After competing one year internship, I decided to do MD. And so I appeared for NEET-PG and luckily i qualified it with a good score. Later on I applied for various institutes but to my surprise I got selected in suge a reputed one. It feels like an honour to study here.

The placement opportunities in our college are immense. Our college is quite a reputed college in Kolkata, hence finding a job is not a difficult task. We even get a good pay. We even have a wonderful option of working in their own hospital which also pays us really good.
