Remarks:

I had some of my senior friends who were already studying in this college. They suggested it's a good one so I went to visit the campus. I was awestruck after visiting the campus. There and then I decided I want to go here for my bachelor degree. The good thing is it has a very attractive, clean, hygienic, large campus. The canteen is awesome. The food is very clean and tasty. The bad aspects which I faced a lot is that one can't get an auto to go to station outside the college. You have to struggle for minutes to land down an auto. Also the area outside the college goes under construction quite frequently and the work keeps on going for months sometimes a year or so. Admission process was very simple. The staff was very supportive. I had went to get the admission process done on 31st July, 2016. They guided regarding all the documents and everything. The process went smooth. I started going to college from 1st August, 2016. Website of college is https://vesit.ves.ac.in/

Fee Structure And Facilities:

Fee Structure included tuition fees, development fees, University exam fees, University sports cultural and other fees, Yuva raksha insurance, form fees. Scholarship not that I knew of any. But there was one EBC reimbursement provided by the government where the 50% of the fees will be paid by the government. But there were some conditions to be met that included family income less than equal to 3Lakh per annum, then only the student will be eligible for EBC. As far as the campus placements is considered, this college has one of the best placements. There were almost 25-30 companies each had their different criteria including pointer eligibility. Eligible candidates got the opportunity to sit for Aptitude tests, technical interviews, HR interviews varying from company to company. I got placed in Larsen and Toubro Infotech with the salary package of 5Lakh ctc.

Placement Experience:

The truth of my department Optics and Optoelectronics is that its a research oriented department, thereby mainly focusing on making students develop a mindset of scientific thinking and logical reasoning.Placements are less compared to other colleges but still students do get placed with a job package of around 4-6 lpa. My college provides internship. My overall experience was a very learning one as I had worked on the Lighting part and learned fairly. There was no stipend for my internship, but students do get stipend in different projects around 5000 rupees.per month

College Events:

Our college has a number of events to start with.We celebrate Saraswati Puja in college every year which is celebrated in quite a grand way. Then comes the International Day of Light celebration where we arrange various seminars and night sky watching events. Then the annual fest of our college "ALL-GO-RYTHM".It includes a cultural night and various competitions like coding, robo wars, and various sports events like chess, badminton, cricket etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course I am in is mainly research oriented and CU is known for its quality research. CU is one of very few institutes in India that promotes UG research. The course is well up to date and the last revision of the syllabus was on 2018. They'll also provide ample scope for doing internships. Our course structure have credits too for this, ex- doing internships in IIA(Indian Institute of Astrophysics). The course also includes electives to let the student choose which subjects to take and which not. Now getting high cgpa in CU will be very difficult but if u attend all classes and stay fully focused u'll get something in the range 7-8cgpa. Failing here is common.

Faculty:

The faculties are just awesome. I bet u'll find a better quality of faculties than most NITs, IITs and JU even.. just for instance in my dept. 1 faculty is an ex-isro scientist who has contributions to major isro projects(like in chandrayaan), all of them were gold medalists throughout in their academics having PhDs from the University of Luxembourg, London, Edinburgh, and IIT Kgp. They also have multiple patents and 100s of publications in reputed journals. In-dept. like IT u'll even find fellows from Princeton and other ivey leagues. So yeah faculty quality is world class and one of the reasons for such good national/international rankings.
