Indian Institute of Pulses Research (IIPR) is a government institute in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It was established in the year 1983 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to carry out basic strategic and applied research on major pulse crops. The Institute is involved in generation of basic information, development of high yielding varieties and appropriate production and protection technologies, demonstration and transfer of technologies, production of breeder seeds and strategic coordination of pulses research through wide network of testing centers across the country.
It is situated on Grand Trunk Road and is about 12 KM from Kanpur Central Railway Station towards New Delhi.

Library- IIPR Library is one of the important libraries in the country having large number of publications including 4069 books / monographs, 4919 bound volumes of Indian and international journals, 45 bulletins, 25 pamphlets, and other reference materials. The Library has added of 41 issues Indian and 13 foreign Journals, 80 books (72 titles), 290 newsletters, 52 gratis books, 101 annual reports and 67 gratis journals and other publication for the year 2012 totaling 644 publications to its collection.
Labs- The Institute laboratories is to cater to the needs of different research mandates.
Biotechnology Lab is equipped with Tissue Culture Facility, Insect Bioassay Facility, Plant Hardening and Establishment Unit. Biotechnology Unit has around 1000 square feet inoculation room cum tissue culture facility. It has 6 horizontal laminars flow enabling to work for 12 peoples at a time. Culture rooms have total 30 culture trolleys to accommodate in vitro materials from pigeonpea, chickpea and Vigna crops.
The Pulse Processing Lab with a Mini Dal Mill for large scale testing for chickpea and the overall capacity of the mill ranged between 109-122 kg/h and over all dal recovery of 76% was obtained. Different emery grades (16, 20, 24, 30 & 36) have also been evaluated for dehusking of pigeonpea with 74% dal recovery at 30 number emery grades for untreated grains.
Crop Production Division (CPD) lab is equipped with automatic machines viz., Automatic weather station, spectrophotometer, flame photometer, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS), TOC Analyser, N Analyser, Soil moisture meter, Infiltrometers, lux meter, Pressure plate apparatus and pshycrometer, Penetrologger, Pressure chamber and water quality kit.
Crop Physiology and biochemistry and Microbiology (CPBM) Labs is equipped with an advanced powerful stress monitoring system called Chlorophyll fluorescene imaging systemenabling to monitor photosynthesis in plants under different abiotic stresses. Based on imaging patterns, the precise diagnosis of plant activities under stress can be made. The image patterns keep changing with the level of stress.
Research Farm- IIPR has over the possession of two (Main farm and New Research Farm) with 84 ha total area with 100% irrigation facility.
Auditorium- The Institute has an auditorium for cultural programs and conferences with seating capacity of 300 persons.

I was always afraid to showcase my inhibitions in front of the world, IIPR not only made me confident but also polished my skills and talent in the sector of agriculture. I got my research work done and approved by professionals. The amazing faculty with the facilities provided makes every student proud to be the part of this college.
The university provides technology and a general degree in pulses research that is agriculture. As we all know the important part of the Indian economy dependent upon agriculture so to be an agricultural scientist or engineer will be extremely decent.
The course curriculum is designed very specifically. I had opted for the one on Agricultural Economics under the Agricultural Extension department. There were regular lectures, presentations, lab work and practical assignments. At the end of the course, you have to submit a thesis or dissertation.
The course curriculum is well-prepared to introduce a masters student to the nuances of scientific research in pulses. The six month course offers many specializations. I chose to study soil science under plant breeding and genetics. The course ends with the submission of a dissertation or thesis as per the student's choice.
A three year, full time, on-campus course is indeed a long procedure which is a must in case of Ph.D. in agriculture. The curriculum is wholesome and at the same time immense focus is given to the examination structure too.
The course curriculum is vast and covers every aspect of agriculture. It wouldn't be wrong to say that they have the most rigid examination structure but being up-to-date with the curriculum helps a lot.
The college teaches students socially and morally responsible to make them valuable and respected citizens of our society. The course gives the knowledge of seed breeding, agricultural activities, soil variety and so much related to the farm. It also provides knowledge about pulse production and improving nutritional security and sustainability of the production base. The college equips students with strong skill sets to compete/face the real world.
The course is strategic research on pulses to improve productivity and quality. College is involved in the generation of basic information, production of breeder seeds, development of high yielding varieties and appropriate protection and production. The college provides students with sufficient exposure to help them realize the opportunity available to them. The course curriculum suitably designed to meet the challenging needs of society.
The college provides technology and general degree in pulses research that is agriculture. As we all know the major part of Indian economy dependent upon agriculture so to be an agricultural scientist or engineer will be very good.
College Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture Provides Technology Background More general studies. You have theoretical knowledge of technology, all of which help you to implement it and gain knowledge throughout.
