What Students Say
Likes
- Academic curriculum focuses more on practical knowledge rather than theoretical knowledge.
- Free extra help sessions by faculties for students facing difficulties in any course.
- Tons of study spaces available throughout the main campus for students to study by themselves or in groups.
Dislikes
- Though the college library has good study material, the selection to choose from is limited.
- Fees difference between international students and domestic students is way too much.
Required Exams for Admission
I chose this college and program because Fanshawe offers three year advanced diploma in Environmental Technology with 4 co-op terms unlike other colleges in Ontario. Overall experience at Fanshawe in the last 9 months has been great. The student makeup is very diverse as there are students from different corners of the world. Though regular assignments, quizzes, presentations, and tests can sometimes be overwhelming.
Course Curriculum
The course curriculum in the first term was pretty basic, it was just a review of what was taught in high school. From the second term, the curriculum became challenging and required full attention.
Faculty
For my program , the student to faculty ratio is 10:1. The program director, Dr. Amy Turnbull is very helpful and is there to guide you through the academics and other program related queries.
Campus Life
The college student union regularly holds numerous fun events like movie night, bingo night, summer/fall festival, etc. within the campus premises. There is a student wellness building which has a high quality gym, wall climbing center, multiple badminton courts, table tennis, squash, miniature golf, soccer field, etc. for the recreation of the students.
Placement
Regular job fairs within the college help the student to meet the peers from the companies they might be interested to work with.
Accommodation
For a shared room in an independent house. I pay CA$ 450 + utilities. It's a bit high for sharing but considering the fact that my place is just a 3-5 minute bus ride to the college, it works. Also, there are four different bus route options to the college campus from my place.
Exams
- I only had to appear for one test, IELTS. My overall band score in IELTS was 7.5. - CBSE - 91% (10th); CBSE - 87% (12th) - I had to submit SoP for the Canadian student visa and LoR for the college admission process though LoR was not mandatory. To increase the chance of getting an admission letter from the college/university of your choice, get meticulously framed LoRs from the faculties of high school or any other previous educational institution of the subject closely related to your program. For SoPs, show the university what makes them our first choice and why this program. Try to align your previous experience with the same. - Interview Round- No interviews
Fees
Tuition fee: CA$ 17,000 per year (2 terms)
