  • This three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma program is a continuation of the Construction Engineering Technician program and allows graduates to pursue a wider variety of careers related to civil construction.
  • Students focus on more advanced topics including project administration, civil estimating, design of steel structures, and highway and environmental engineering.
  • In addition, students broaden their skills in other civil engineering sub-disciplines, such as statics, structural analysis, hydraulics, GIS, water and wastewater technology and geotechnical materials.
  • This three year of study explores in-depth areas of civil engineering technology such as:
    • project scheduling and cost control
    • surveying
    • design of steel structures
    • foundations
    • water and wastewater technology
    • soils analysis
    • reinforced concrete design
  • During the final two terms of the program, you take on a year-long project in collaboration with external industry partners that gives you real-world experience and may help you develop networks within a specific industry.
  • As part of a project team, you participate in leadership events, analyze and solve problems, create deliverables and present the results of your project to the college community and the industry through demonstrations and presentations.
  • Students also have the option to gain real-world experience through a paid co-operative education (co-op) work term .
  • Please note that places in the co-op work term are subject to availability and academic eligibility. Admission to the co-op program does not guarantee a co-op placement.
  • Co-op work terms are typically 14 weeks in duration and are completed during a term when students are not taking courses​.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Students who have completed all the course requirements equivalent to the Construction Engineering Technician program of study with a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0 are eligible to apply to the Civil Engineering Technology program, as long as they have achieved a grade of C or better in ENL2019T and ENG8404.
