A major foci of the research programs are organized into three themes that apply to all practice environments: Patient Experience, Patient Safety and Workforce Development.

A Master of Nursing degree is awarded for a substantial, original contribution to knowledge achieved in up to two years of full-time study (or two to four years of part-time candidature).

The Master of Nursing is an approved program of research involving a substantial written thesis on the topic of your choice and under expert supervision. The degree is assessed on the result of thesis, with minimal or no coursework component required.

Admission Criteria/Better to Have

Applicants must have demonstrated evidence of a high standard of research ability. This is normally an Honours year to H2B (60%+) standard, or a coursework master degree with a substantial thesis. However, other evidence of research ability may be considered and could include a thesis as part of an international undergraduate degree; relevant refereed publications; research awards; or research experience.

  • Hold a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent pre-registration Bachelor level nursing degree
  • Be registered, or be eligible to register, as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), or equivalen to overseas nursing regulatory body
  • Be employed, as a Registered Nurse, in a relevant health setting

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing or other Health Science equivalent of meritorious standing (normally Distinction average in the final year).

  • Applicants must have completed bachelors degree in nursing
